Pablo M 201 Posted April 14, 2008 Share #26 Posted April 14, 2008 That is insane. I wonder if that was an American railfanning or a Japanese railfan. Not that it makes any difference, just curious. Paul ( It was a Japanese railfan. He has alot of videos from Japan posted and he lives in Yokohoma according to his profile. NYCboy Posted April 26, 2008 Share #29 Posted April 26, 2008 from what ive heard the R142As from the will go to the . But being that the R142As on the are in bad shape with hard bucking when entering and leaving the station. And some problems with the PA systems and a few other problems. These cars are really beat up and and need a mini overhaul from CI yard. And the cab panels need to be rebuilt just to run CBTC because CBTC need a seprate screen. And they cant even use those bombardier ones being that they are in such bad shape and they dont know anything about CBTC. And plus it would be very expenive to rebuit and refit the R142As with CBTC. These poorly made cars didnt even come CBTC ready just a waste of money. So until the R142As get their "heavy work" done on them they wont be hitting the anytime soon. And the R151 might be an order to rebuilid the R110A into an R142A or make them combialble with the R142As being that they are made by the same builder.... well ok but if the (7x)line is getting CBTC how can it get the cars from the (6x)line if those cars are made from bombardier.while the 4 line is made from kiwasiki. im trying to say that the R142 that the line uses is not CBTC compatible. the cars that the line uses is CBTC compatible

The bombardier R142s run on the and lines. And the R142As run on the and lines. There are NOT going to use the 142/As from the . They will use the 142As from the or just by a new train altoghter. And the 142As do NOT currently have CBTC system installed on them. And i know that the junkbardier 142s are not CBTC combatiable only the 142As are. R32 3348 Posted April 26, 2008 Share #31 Posted April 26, 2008 The R142As aren't CBTC comaptible except for the R142S order, which is basically a bunch of R142As (7731-7810) that run on only the and not the . That's what he means.

That's what he means. The R142A and the R142S are the same thing. The R142S stands for supplement order the 142A operates the same as an 142S. Nethier is CBTC combiable the MTA will have sightly rebuild them to put CBTC on them.
