EPIC Pass questions

I've seen LIB operators let other operators (from LI, of course) get on for free. I haven't seen this happen since February or so, but I have a few questions about the passes...

1) Is it true that employees only get free rides for the bus operation they work for? Like an NYCT operator's pass would only be valid on an NYCT route, but not an MTA Bus route?

2) What about if a non LIRR/Metro-North employee gets on an LIRR train without a ticket? Do they just get waved on (doubtful) or are they eligible for reduced fare?

3) Are passes like Pay-Per-Rides or Unlimited Rides?

NYCTA and MaBSTOA cards work only on NYCTA subways and New York City buses. Now if i put my pass in on a MTA Bus or LI bus it comes up as invalid card and we are to pay the fare but we give each other courtesy rides.I was also told that MTA bus epic pass don't work on Subways and i know for sure they don't work on NYCTA bus. If riding a LIRR or Metro north we are to pay fare like everyone else i know of people that show there pass and ask for a courtesy ride but it truly up to the conductor. i myself have waved on LIRR and Metro north on my bus. The epic pass is like the unlimited metro card but it says PASS OK when used, like a pay express card. It has the same 18 minutes delay like a unlimited so it cant be used multiple times.

I just don't understand what the passes are not valid for all MTA buses and subways.

Because if you work for NYCT, you don't work for LIB or any other MTA company. It's stupid, but thats the way it is and it would not be to surprising if the MTA eventually got ride of free rides for employees. Who many companies do you know of that give there workers a 100% discount on their product? The MTA only sells transpiration and if you work for LIB, you ride free, same with NYCT/OA, SIRT, and the rest.

I hear MTA management has universal passes that are accepted everywhere.

From what I have been told by several people is that MTA management get two IDs, the first is there normal MTA ID (which if you have seen it, it looks like it was made at home) and the second is a pass of their choice. If they live in Brooklyn for example they can get an NYCT pass or if they live on Long Island they can get an LIRR pass and so on. I'm sure though that someone from the top of the MTA came to your booth, bus, or train you'd let them on no matter what pass they have once they show that MTA ID.

Before MTA/MABSTOA passes were combined, NYCTA workers couldn't ride MABSTOA buses, but could ride some Q32's and 126st depot buses (officially).

And vice versa. Railroad and bus operators and Railroad clerks made their own decisions on who to allow in , or ride for free.

I , an ex Station Agent, alooong time ago, rode to Washington on Amtrak for free. (Paid on the way back).
