JFK 7212 Posted October 24, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 24, 2010 Greetings everyone.I don't know how many of you had a chance to ride the R160B set 8713-8722 when it first debuted on the A line back in late 2006.I have read comments from doubters saying that the set never ran in passenger service such as the following:"there was never R160s on the A line because this was only a test train"-umaga 41599 from Youtube. This was in regard to my video of the train leaving Jay St in passenger service enroute to 207St. Many of you have been probably looking endlessly through them internets trying to find an audio recording of the set on the A and have come up empty.Well regardless of the reason, here is a link to my audio recording of the R160B test set on the A line.Focus car is 8722.Recorded from Aqueduct-North Conduit to Broad Channel. And if anyone would have a doubt while listening to it,pay attention to when you hear a walkie talkie cell phone beep go off and come back and tell me this isnt in passenger service. Enough yapping here's the link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZEQ8WG_KWw So sit back, grab your favorite drink, snack, whatever and enjoy the "ride"! IRT Bronx Express Posted October 24, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 24, 2010 I believe that many, if not, some, always knew that the once used R160s, though it was temporary. Because the and use "old trains", some want the (A)/© to use R160s even though it won't happen. Interesting find, regardless.
SevenEleven Posted October 24, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 24, 2010 Nice find. It's cool to hear a R160 on another line every once in a while. The R160 testing on the was the first of many 30 day passenger tests.

T to Dyre Avenue Posted October 27, 2010 Share #8 Posted October 27, 2010 I rode R160s on the many times after work in September 2006 after work. I rode from Chambers to Far Rockaway and back. The train always seemed to come at the same time.

Guest lance25 Posted October 27, 2010 Share #10 Posted October 27, 2010 It was probably a glitch. Remember that the cars were brand new at the time and if there are problems with the electronics today, you know there were problems during the test period. JFK 7212 Posted October 28, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted October 28, 2010 why dont this trainsay what stop it is at before it says the next stop Amtrak7: No mention of the AirTrain connection at Howard Beach? Because I had my recorder sticking outside the storm doors while the train was entering the stations thus you never heard "This is Howard Beach-JFK.Connection is avaliable to the Airtrain to JFK Airport." or "This is Broad Channel.Transfer is avaliable to the shuttle to Rockaway Park."
