The TransitMan Posted October 25, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 25, 2010 So you lose 25 NGs but gain back about 15 RTS buses? So you'll be short. So much for going ALL HYBRID! It was fun while it lasted!

Calvin Posted October 25, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 25, 2010 Why does the M60 needs to be in 126 St Depot and M66/72 to Manhattanville?
Q43LTD Posted October 26, 2010 Share #6 Posted October 26, 2010 126 is losing 2 routes, but getting 1 in return? I think the M31 should've been involved us this swap
Guest MTA Bus Posted October 26, 2010 Share #7 Posted October 26, 2010 Does this mean that the M60 will lose their NGs, but the M66/M72 will get NGs

Gotham Bus Co Posted October 26, 2010 Share #9 Posted October 26, 2010 126 is losing 2 routes, but getting 1 in return? It's not the number of routes but their the relative sizes (i.e. frequencies, runs, and fleet requirements). The M60 is roughly the same "size" as the M66 and M72 put together. The swap will probably save money by having M60 drivers make reliefs near the depot at 125th & 2nd - i.e. with minimal travel time and zero headway allowance. Cait Sith Posted October 26, 2010 Share #10 Posted October 26, 2010 Manhattanville O7 NGs #3875 - 3899 move to 126th Street. [confirmed] Nooooooooooooooooo!!!! Though I wonder, will the M60 see some RTSs? If so, then I am A-OK with this.
NovaBus 5121 Posted October 26, 2010 Share #11 Posted October 26, 2010 I can see why it makes sense but it depends on what Manhattanville gets back. If it gets the M66/M72, it wouldn't make sense do to the long deadhead (though hybrids would help in the stop in go traffic that the M66/72 goes through and save on fuel). For the M60, its a much quicker deadhead for buses from 126 to go to Laguardia Airport then for Manhattanville. Though in the sense of things, it would make a lot more sense to have a split between Casey Stengel/Laguardia and Manhattanville (But this is the mta and there is also the union issues). It would be nice (this a dream) if the 25 of the LFS went to 126, got luggage racks and sent back the NG's to MHV. At the same time, I am preferential to the RTS, considering a catch them on the M66 and M31.

There is no way that Astoria Blvd and the streets around LaGuardia Depot is too narrow, they tested articulated New Flyers from Kingsbridge at LaGuardia following specific routes. East New York Posted October 29, 2010 Share #20 Posted October 29, 2010 From what I heard, no artics are going on the M60. LaGuardia's roads are too narrow for articulated buses I don't get it when people say the roads are too narrow. Articulated coaches are the same width as all the rest of our buses. The only thing that may be an issue sometimes is the length when it comes to parking/terminals.

Mysterious2train Posted October 29, 2010 Share #23 Posted October 29, 2010 Yesterday I saw an empty M66 RTS bus heading South on 2nd Ave from 126th St Depot. I also saw an RTS [i don't think it was the same one] turning from 2nd Ave onto 72nd St, heading East.

T J Trainman Posted October 29, 2010 Share #25 Posted October 29, 2010 It sounds like MHV may need more than 15 RTSs? Why is MHV getting so many lines all of a sudden?
