+Young+ Posted October 27, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2010 Hi all~ As some (or most of you) may know by now, I am currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree at Molloy Colege, located in Rockville Centre (Long Island), NY. For my computer science class, we have to do a powerpoint presentation and I was thinking of doing it on the Subways. Therefore, I was wondering offhand if anyone has some interesting ideas as far as what I should put in there. I was thinking of: -maybe some information about the Nostalgia Train Rides -maybe a track map or 2 (I have the book at home, so I can always scan something) -maybe elaborate on the subways cars -interesting facts, etc. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks!!!
105th St KK QJ JJ J Posted October 27, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2010 A history of all the different Subway cars from the Low V's to the present with pics or graphics of each model would be interesting !!

QM1to6Ave Posted October 27, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 27, 2010 To you, maybe, but these people are probibly not train lovers and couldn't care. If its a class presentation, no one is going to pay attention regardless of what you make it about-just make sure the teacher (or is it called professor in college?) cares about 'em
Alargule Posted October 28, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 28, 2010 Well...given it's a computer science class you're in, I think a good subject would be the signaling system of the NYC Subway, and specifically the way computers are used and have been used in the past to control it. +Young+ Posted October 28, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted October 28, 2010 Well...given it's a computer science class you're in, I think a good subject would be the signaling system of the NYC Subway, and specifically the way computers are used and have been used in the past to control it. Can you please elaborate on how computers are used and have been used in the past? Keep in mind that this is a 5-10 minute presentation so it has to be brief. Thanks for the idea!! CenSin Posted October 28, 2010 Share #7 Posted October 28, 2010 Why not just present a history of programming languages? That's absolutely relevant to the class. I'm a computer science major myself.
INDman Posted October 28, 2010 Share #8 Posted October 28, 2010 To you, maybe, but these people are probibly not train lovers and couldn't care. f**k the class, who cares if they like it or not since there not grading you. A few years ago, I did a presentation on the line and CBTC for a computer class I was taking. The first thing I said to the class was "I'm sorry, but this will put you guys to sleep." The guy teaching the class loved it though and his opinion was the only one that counted.

You asked for ideas, I gave them to you - I'm sure there's lots of interesting documentation to be found covering this subject that you can use for your presentation
