FBI nabs Virginia man charged in terror plot to bomb Washington D.C. metro subway system

A suburban Washington, D.C., was charged Wednesday with casing some of the busiest subway stops in the nation's capitol for what he thought were al-Qaeda terrorists plotting a huge attack.

 

They were really FBI men stringing him along, the feds say.

 

Farooque Ahmed, 34, is accused of making sketches and filming surreptitious surveillance videos of the subway stops by the Pentagon, the tourist-packed Arlington Cemetary, and a popular nearby mall.

 

U.S. Attorney Neil MacBride said Ahmed's goal was "killing as many Metro riders as possible through simultaneous bomb attacks."
