Brooklyn Bridge-125 Street...Back in the day when I remember the stretch between Tha bridge -14 street used to be rather slow...Now we blow into 14 street Nicely...Also I love the Run between 42-59 Headed Uptown becuse of the Acceleration immeadaitely after Crossing the swiches..even in the morning rush hour headed uptown these lines haul ass up thru Manhattan lol.. 59 St-West 4 St.....Coming into 42 st Brooklyn Bound is a Fly ride...One trip a while ago was on the R32s!!! The T/O Hit the brakes at like 45mph 2 cars into the station already! and came to a perfect stop..Very impressed lol and the run into 14 st is fun becuase of the dip right before the station..also roundin that curve at west 4 is cool.. I know there are plenty of other Express Runs in the system but its too much to explain why there not my favorites such as the above mentioned ones but some not so favorite runs..... 180-3av/149....Slow at tremont, simpson, and jackson ave.. (D)Tremont-145...I just think those R68 Are too heavy..Nice when R160s come..if ever... (A)125-59....Get rid of those heavy azz R44..Replace wit R32s...Slow south of 81 st ..some 22 blocks north of 59 st...smh... EE Broadway Local Posted October 28, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 28, 2010 I would say: : 125th Street-59th Street-Columbus Circle - Skips seven stations for a sixty-six block express run; : 71st Avenue-Continental Avenue-Queens Plaza - Skips five stations on each side of Roosevelt Avenue; : Times-Square-42d Street-96th Street - Skips three stations south of 72d Street; : Tremont Avenue-145th Street (Peak Direction) - Skips five stations; : East 180th Street-East 149th Street-Third Avenue (Peak Direction) - Elevated express run that skips seven stations;
Tokkemon Posted October 28, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 28, 2010 168 St to 42 St - Times Sq. Easily the fastest uptown/downtown route of them all. I can go 120 blocks in no more than 10 minutes. Incredibly fast.
CenSin Posted October 28, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 28, 2010 Only the because it does it so efficiently. Pull into the station, pull out. There's no bullshit like waiting for local trains to pull into the station or excessive timers. It's the benchmark which I compare all other express runs with. IRT Bronx Express Posted October 28, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 28, 2010 1. The to Manhattan, from Flushing to Queensboro Plaza, was really fast when I took it only once. 2. The between Tremont and 145 Street. Then it gets very slow on the CPW corridor. =/ 3. However, the from Parkchester to 125 St gets my vote as the best express run, and it takes me 15 minutes, compared to the slow local .
Joel Up Front Posted October 28, 2010 Share #6 Posted October 28, 2010 Do T/Os go above 20 MPH on express runs? Gotta get me on an express , , or ...
waynejay Posted October 28, 2010 Share #7 Posted October 28, 2010 I have several. I've always liked the BMT 4th Ave from 59th - 36th and 36th - Pacific St. The Brighton Express was always a fun ride back in the day. Hopefully it will be once again after the construction. 6th Ave Express (southbound was always my favorite direction). 8th Ave Express between 59th-Columbus Circle and 42nd-PABT (southbound) was always awesome. Pretty much all of the Lexington Ave Express was high on my list too. Ditto for the 7th Ave Express. The Flushing Express, especially section that raises above the local tracks at 111th Street. I like many of the others too, but these were always my favs.
West End Posted October 28, 2010 Share #8 Posted October 28, 2010 Queensboro Plz - Mets/Willets Point, hands down. I'd consider taking LIRR to Citi Field if it wasn't around. Canal - 57th. Preferred the stretch in the '90s when it went to Queensbridge (1995 Manny-B construction) and didn't slow down at 57th. ( Sheepshead Bay - Prospect Pk. Can't wait until it comes back. Queensboro Plz - Astoria Blvd (fun ride but hated by many)
Law Posted October 28, 2010 Share #9 Posted October 28, 2010 I've several favorites, but to name a few: ( Prospect Park to Sheepshead Bay (currently under construction) Queensboro Plz to Willets Pt - CitiField (2)/(3) From Times Sq 42nd St to 96th St From Canal St to 34th St (weekdays) (A)/(D) CPW From 59th St to 125th St (B)/(D) From W4th St to 34th St Seems like majority like those express lines also
Forest Glen Posted October 28, 2010 Share #10 Posted October 28, 2010 Only the because it does it so efficiently. Pull into the station, pull out. There's no bullshit like waiting for local trains to pull into the station or excessive timers. It's the benchmark which I compare all other express runs with. The express run used to be faster but they installed timers and an interlocking near 74 Street/Broadway Fastest express runs Times Square-72nd Roosevelt Avenue-Queens Plaza/21st-Queensbridge Myrtle-Marcy Pacific-36 Street Brooklyn Bridge-14 Street

553 Bridgeton Posted October 28, 2010 Share #12 Posted October 28, 2010 Do T/Os go above 20 MPH on express runs? It depends if there is timers. The best Express run to me is 72nd to 42nd Southbound on the (2)/(3). WPR Express is good but its not all that fast. At most it save 2mins and if you hit West Farms at the right time then you will end up saving no time. Its too many curves on WPR between E180th & 3rd Av for it to really be decent fast express run. lilbluefoxie Posted October 28, 2010 Share #13 Posted October 28, 2010 the (4)/(5) from 14th to Grand Central is a nice run the from 59th to 125th is a cool one, especially that part where it like goes between floors somewhere in the 100s the is good but its too bad it has all those local stops after queensboro plaza, when they built it, they should have extended the 3rd track to grand central and give express stops for hunterspoint ave and vernon-jackson for the LIRR connections. An express Woodside to Grand Central would be the best but the LIRR is bringing us that.
TwoTimer Posted October 29, 2010 Share #14 Posted October 29, 2010 An underrated one... Hunts Pt to Parkchester.
