microcontroller-based switch routing

Recommended Posts

Hey guys:

In case you dont know, I have a model railroad at home. I do have a couple of switches. And I eraly want to authmate them........

Everyone knows that I currently use my a BASIC STAMP Microcontroller for my troubled project in NYC College of technology.

It seems very cute to use BASIC STAMP for controlling 5 switches and having 5 inputs. However, every switch must have a control circuit.

For controlling an elevator moto I use an H-Bridge circuit, and it seems easy to rebuild it for railway switches.

but the disadvantage is that I have to have AS MANY H-BRIDGES as switches in my Model RR.

So, is there any non-home-made microconstroller-based device, in which I can plug a couple of switches and controll them. Another necessary requirement is a capability to program this device both from a computer, and own programmable interface.

Do you know some products which can help me.?
