lilbluefoxie Posted November 8, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 8, 2010 I know the color strips under the car numbers are for the yards but which colors are assigned to which yards?
Broadway Local Posted November 9, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 9, 2010 There is a red stripe on the and , the purple on the , and the gray on There is a color stripe under the numbers on every R62/R62As. So that means the R62As on the are assigned to the 240th Street Yard, the R62 on the to the New Lots Yard, the R62As on the to the Corona Yard, and the R62As on the are assigned to the Mosholu/Jerome Yard. Also, the stripes represent the color of a NYC subway logo.

INDman Posted November 9, 2010 Share #11 Posted November 9, 2010 Please don't use yellow color because I can't see yellow. Are you ******* for real with that? What makes you so important that something must be changed because you can't see it? Get over your self and remember, the one you can't see is YELLOW. No, they are or were yard assignments which mean almost nothing anymore but had value when cars could end up anywhere at any time.

Agreed  Are you ******* for real with that? Yes, I'm serious. Get over your self and remember, the one you can't see is YELLOW. Not objects that are yellow. The words that were yellow, unless if the words were bigger or maybe bold. I think it was my eyesight that causes the problem.

Roadcruiser1 Posted November 9, 2010 Share #15 Posted November 9, 2010 Well there are people that are color blind or they can't see yellow very well. Well the yard in yellow was the Westchester Yard. It's for those that can't see it very well. Anyway the Westchester Yard is also called the Pelham Yard. It's where the , trains are based out of. That means the R142A's. LRG Posted November 9, 2010 Share #20 Posted November 9, 2010 They used to, along with the R32s but they removed them a while ago R30s had them as well (I think the beige/gray sticker under the nmberplate represented the 207th/Pitkin assignment): NOTE: This is the REAL 8317, not the impostor 8317 that has CBTC installed in it B)

There were a few with a red sticker, usually only 1 car out of the 4 car set had it. I'm still trying to find out what the blue diamond on a few R46s means. Grand Concourse Posted November 11, 2010 Share #25 Posted November 11, 2010 Here's a breakdown as to what color codes each yard has/had: Summed up perfectly  The IRT yard stickers were simple enough. I have no idea what the color systems meant for B division though. And covered already about the pics of the with R62As: they were trains borrowed from the and lines, so they were not additional color systems. I rode an R62A set from each line on the a few years ago when going to hs, it was odd, but also a unique ride since the was all redbirds.
