EE Broadway Local

Recommended Posts

From NY1 Transit:

The MTA's Grace Periods For MetroCards Are:

*Unlimited ride MetroCards purchased before fares increase on December 30th, must be swiped by January 10th to get the maximum value;

*A One-Day Fun Pass will expire that day (January 10th);

*A Seven-Day Pass or a Seven-Day Express Bus Pass will expire January 16th.

*A Fourteen-Day Pass will expire on January 23d and a Monthly Pass will lose its' value on February 8th.

The weekly card is rising from $27 to $29 while the monthly card is rising from $89 to $104. The one day Fun Pass and the fourteen day cards are being eliminated.

The MTA needs to stop making us pay for their mistakes and raise the 7 day and 30 day metrocards. This is like ridiculous.

BOO

Well then, if you don't like it you can:

1) Walk

2) Bike

3) Taxi

4) Get a Car

5) Do Nothing.

Even tho i agree that fare increase is unfair, but thats how life is to some.

And Albany is to blame, not the (MTA) i dislike when people blame the (MTA) for all of this. People out there of course.

Just for my knowledge, if someone were to ask you, why not blame the MTA, and blame Albany, what would your explanation be?

Anyone who's been in the loop knows that Albany lawmakers are always syphoning money and funding AWAY from public transportation within the city. Many appeals have been made to upstate for additional financial aid and funding, but it has been ignored...possibly because those nutcases in Albany don't live in the city on a daily basis...XP

Wait, i bought a 1 month last Friday, does this mean i don't have to buy a new Unlimited Metro Card with the new fares until Feb 8?
That's a good question, mark1447. NY1 reports that an Unlimited MetroCard must be swiped by January 6th to get maximum value. The One Month MetroCards will lose their value on February 8th.

So if you purchased an Unlimited One Month by December 29th and swipe it by January 6th, you'll receive maximum value and your card won't lose value until February 8th under the grace period.

Well the (MTA) is state owned, they are pulling funds off the table causing the (MTA) to increase the fare and causing cuts.

Plus the management that runs the (MTA) is government appointed..

So its mainly the gov't not the (MTA)s fault as much.

There is 6). Beat the fare without getting caught. Look at the unmanned botths without cameras or security or even going into back door of a local bus. MTA should really look into that.

the MTA isnt getting my money anymore. Especially now that I drive to work I get here in 20 minutes as opposed to 45mins to 1 hour taking the bus or train. There are about 50-60 people at the office I work in and I know only about 1/4 of them still use mass transit.

The MTA is going to continue to lose money the way they keep raising fares and decreasing service. And Albany is only partially to blame. Most of the blame still falls on the MTA with the way they waste money on projects that never get finished or by thinking they are saving money by issuing low ball contracts, materials wasted, over-purchasing.. the list goes on how they piss away money. Its no wonder Albany continue to cut MTA funds when they see its just a black hole..

Maybe we should urge officials in Albany to ride the crowded buses like M15 SBS, Bx12 SBS, N6 LTD, N88, and other crowded buses or crowded subway like (4)(5)(6) and (1)(2)(3) and (7) to see how they feel like riding on it.

Just a normal N6 is crowded when Nassau classes end. The N4 can get pretty bad as well.

Get Walder and Mangano on there as well. I'm sure the operators would be extra careful for them...

Im sure they dont ride Long Island Bus routes that frequently to see conditions in rush hour and weekend service that they are afraid. Where is the NY media {Ch 11 Mocker loving MTA} getting this story?

Messino do you drive and use the (MTA) Bridges/Tunnels i.e RFK/Triboro, Whitestone, Verrzano, etc? If so they still getting your money.

The only other option is to leave Metro NYC.

I dont use toll bridges if I dont have to. The only bridge I use is Verrazano once in a blue moon but thats really the only way to get to staten island and I dont go there often. Im usually on the 59street bridge or Williamsburgh, and as long as Im not paying for 2 fares per day 5 days a week, I am happier without the MTA/LIRR crappy service.

Eliminating the one day & weekly passes is a surefire way to scare people (tourists, biz folk) from using the subway vs taxi.

Tourists are already scared to take the subway anyway. I dont think it will matter to them. As for biz ppl, they need to take the silver spoon outta there ass.

i agree with your second paragraph.

The Emergency gates - waste

Tearing down stair cases -waste

Getting rid of vendors who been there for years and paying good money for the spots - waste of good resource

Putting tiles on the platform floors - waste - when they crack alot , expensive to replace. Someone get hurt , they sue.

Putting up useless station offices and nobody is in them - waste.

Redoing same spot over again and neglecting others that really need it. - waste.

Closing off half the station with gates, - waste. people need to utilze the whole station.

I can see why people are using mass transit less and less with all the hikes. I know this would never happen but I wonder if lowering the fare could actually boost ridership like what happened when they lowered the express bus fare.

I think and know it would increase ridership.

MTA..Going your way, yep right out the door.

People will find alternative means, its hard already in the city.
