Should +SBS+ Routes be included on the Subway Map?

I was just thinking of something, they stick in the slow routes to the airports on the map already, why not add in the Select Bus Routes which is like rapid transit but just with buses

On the subway map I have on my wall that I use to plan my trips, among other annotations and notes and things, I drew in the +SBS+ routes in colored pencil.

then why do they put the routes to the airports on it? also the first version of the current design had a few bus routes on it

I have always felt that they should not show those routes, the most they should do is bring back the bus transfer bubble on the map.

I can't really see too many Manhattan residents commuting to an outer borough in the PM rush (which is when the service is most frequent), and if they are, they could look at the map of their destination borough (there is no point in seeing the number of an express route in Manhattan if you don't know where it goes in the outer boroughs).

In any case, when did they stop printing that map?

Select BUS Service, so no.

What they should do is go back to including the line by line maps on the opposite side of the subway map like they did in the 80's and 90's. Those gave you the cross streets for all station stops on each line, and all transfers listed out (including buses).

MTA Railroads should be a separate map from the regular subway map.

they used to have a specific express bus map?

also when there were private bus operators, did each one have their own map?

Long time ago about time I was in MS104.

Express Bus Map was PDF Document which showed all express buses, including Atlantic Express X23/X24 routes.

Hell go back to a map with 3 colors, one color for each division, black and white rollsigns, no PAs, air powered doors, Motor Instructors and MotorMEN.

I agree with you, 100%. It needs more awareness to use the SBS. Other transit agency do that put BRT on the rail map, why cant MTA?

Answering the original question, yes SBS routes show be on the map. If they can put every line that goes to an airport on a subway map, I don't see why the Select Bus Service can't be on the map.

They should put it. It will let subway riders know where the free buses are.

And they'll be sadly mistaken.

Putting them on the subway map would be, yet, another way of over-glorifying SBS...

...and furthermore, put SBS routes on the subway map?

yeah, for people to later complain about the subway map being "too cluttered" (again), forget it.....

I agree, they shouldn't go on there, they should go on the BUS map, because they're buses. SBS is already being flaunted as the future of rapid transit in the city when it isn't much different from regular buses. Those lanes are often too narrow for the buses and get clogged with other traffic or cars in the next lane driving too close to the bus lane to allow them to pass.
