IRT Bronx Express Posted November 13, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 13, 2010 Broken link, here's the site. Also, what was the T/O thinking? He could've put the passengers' lives in danger.

FamousNYLover Posted November 13, 2010 Share #5 Posted November 13, 2010 That is my home line. That's so terrible. I take both in morning also. Slight little off-topic, (NJT) Hoboken-bound HBLR was operating lightrail train while drinking juice. Another time during my MegaBus trip to DC, I have caught Chinatown Bus speeding while B/O was eating lunch.

Kingsbridge Bus Posted November 13, 2010 Share #7 Posted November 13, 2010 Well, there is already a law about using moble devices while driving a car so why should it be any different for a train operator. The risk of endangering a life of a passenger gets higher especially if he is not paying attention to where he is going. I'm pretty sure he dosen't get paid to text while on the job. If there is no emergency then STOP TEXTING!!!!
R44 CNG Posted November 13, 2010 Share #8 Posted November 13, 2010 This is the bs that makes some people dislike railfanners, ok he was wrong in operating and texting but you had to give it to the press! Sometimes all people care about these days are themselves, they don't care if someone loses their job. This man could've been supporting his family and you have to be the douchebag. Although some may say, he could have injured many people, i understand that. But think about doing something (from different point of views) before you do it. MattTrain Posted November 13, 2010 Share #10 Posted November 13, 2010 This is the bs that makes some people dislike railfanners, I don't think the person recording the T/O was necessarily a railfanner. Anyways I just hope the T/O doesn't lose his job over this. I understand this is an infraction but he just needs to be reprimanded.
FamousNYLover Posted November 13, 2010 Share #11 Posted November 13, 2010 Both motorists, cars, bikes, bicycles, train/lightrail operators, bus operators need to stop TEXT MESSAGE; TALKING ON CELL PHONE, and other distractions while operating vehicles. I have seen Q72 and Q48 B/O used cell phone behind the wheel, well as LIB B/O around Green Acres Mall.

FamousNYLover Posted November 13, 2010 Share #13 Posted November 13, 2010 Little off-topic, maybe all T/O, B/O, and Drivers should watch this video to learn they shouldn't text or talk on phone.
WMATA Posted November 13, 2010 Share #14 Posted November 13, 2010 A Metrorail T/O was recorded while he was texting and operating his train in 2009, just a few weeks before the deadly accident occurred. The train was being operated in ATO, but still. What if ATO and the fail safe system had failed, as it did a couple weeks later? He was suspended for a week without pay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXUSx_nji7U Hopefully, the MTA T/O doesn't have a spotty record. FamousNYLover, I wish I hadn't seen that clip. KTrainExp Posted November 13, 2010 Share #16 Posted November 13, 2010 Little off-topic, maybe all T/O, B/O, and Drivers should watch this video to learn they shouldn't text or talk on phone. This is 100% the T/O's fault. I'm a sympathetic person, but I put all of the blame on the T/O. The video also shows him texting on the sharp curve between 45th road and Queensboro Plaza and with all of the timers there, I would be alert, In addition to that and the frequent headways of the . If he gets fired (which I hope doesn't happen), then I don't think he'll have much of a case to put up with. There's simply no excuse to be texting while operating a train. @Yuki's video, that video is extremely disturbing. However, it sends a VERY clear and personal message as to why people shouldn't text because a situation such as the one in the video (although unlikely to spiral that out of control), can happen and does not only injure you, but others as well. 553 Bridgeton Posted November 13, 2010 Share #17 Posted November 13, 2010 Just like I was told at transit. "Watch you every move, even when you think not, someone is always watching". The public is a bitch! And as for this. Worse that would have happen if he blew past a timer or red signal, the tripper would have been hit and boom BIE. Doesnt look like he was flying, but still he should have been on his A+ game. Suspend him and hopes he learns his lesson.

Ya just like that bit9h who complained about the motorman who had his child in the cab on a Bronx bound IRT Lex Exp and the bus operator texting while driving.. Yes safety issue and a violation of the Employee rules but come on... Even photography people will complaint about (some), when its just a photo being taken not a bomb. "If you see something say something" If it comes down to a drunking man making loud noise, arguing, going wild in the train, then who would complain? NO ONE. People pissing in the platform? NO ONE. smh!
East New York Posted November 13, 2010 Share #19 Posted November 13, 2010 I'm surprised they still call them motormen. This is The TA we are talking about here! No one did s*** to help a guy that got pushed out of the train, onto the platform, and cracked his head open on a steel column. Train crew had to call it in and tend to the guy. Public didn't do a damn thing. But if that train crew member had been texting, you can bet it'd be on NY1. People are phony f***s. Always cover your ass cuz you never know who's watching. Find the ones that aren't phony pricks and make them their friends. That's the best any of us can hope to do.
INDman Posted November 13, 2010 Share #21 Posted November 13, 2010 And as for this. Worse that would have happen if he blew past a timer or red signal, the tripper would have been hit and boom BIE. Ok but what if there was a track gang or signal maintainer on the tracks? What if there was a customer on the roadbed? Once this guy is IDed, he will be out of service and looking at time in the street if not worse. There is no excuse for his actions, but the person who took the video went about it the wrong way. Instead of giving the video to the press he/she should have gone right to the TA with this.

The person who reported this just wanted to humiliate the t/o, as many do at times to others.
