KTrainExp 16 Posted April 10, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 10, 2008 Is it just the Orion VIIs at Manhattanville Depot and Amsterdam Depot that make that horrible hoaring noise when they accelerate? The hybrid buses back then didn't make that noise before, but now they have been doing it. It starts up like a regular hybrid, but when the ringing noise occurs for like 2 seconds before you hear an increasing humming, the roaring sound occurs. East New York 4,104 Posted April 12, 2008 Share #2 Posted April 12, 2008 I'm not sure what that is, but lots of the 6400's in Queens are making that sound too. I think it is something maintenance is not doing right.
trainfan22 2,234 Posted April 12, 2008 Share #3 Posted April 12, 2008 Maybe its just the hybrids showing wear and tear of pounding nyc streets......
metsfan 2 Posted April 12, 2008 Share #4 Posted April 12, 2008 Might be different fuel mixtures. - Andy
PATCOman 196 Posted April 13, 2008 Share #5 Posted April 13, 2008 Is it only with the older hybrids?
KTrainExp 16 Posted April 14, 2008 Author Share #6 Posted April 14, 2008 Maybe its just the hybrids showing wear and tear of pounding nyc streets...... Not likely. Oldness does not cause a roaring noise when a vehicle is moving.
KTrainExp 16 Posted April 14, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted April 14, 2008 Is it only with the older hybrids? I don't know. I don't pay that much attention to bus numbers. However, I think it's with those 2004 ones. Just a guess.
Orion 27 Posted April 15, 2008 Share #8 Posted April 15, 2008 ALL buses roar every now and then, but it's a rarity in the RTS (other than the normal roar it's supposed to make). It's most common on the D60HF's. Yes even the newer Hybrids roared past me a few times. Don't worry it's completely normal.
