INDman Posted December 4, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 4, 2010 Sometime this summer I had the chance to go to the old New York Bus Service depot. Here are some photos I took of some of the scrap buses, these are the first bus photos I have taken that weren't an accident. And as a bonus, I was able to get the NYBS Fishbowl taken out for a bit. TrainFanatic Posted December 5, 2010 Share #9 Posted December 5, 2010 Interesting photo's. Now if they had the sense to put just a few foamers into this yard, their wouldn't be an inch of metal left to be scraped.
Dan05979 Posted December 5, 2010 Share #10 Posted December 5, 2010 Thanks. Can a mod edit the tittle of the thread to replace srape with scrap? -Done- I pass by this place almost everyday when I'm heading upstate on 95, I see alot of towing companies removing these buses either taking them out to jersey or out the Gershow scrap yard out east on long is. I need a few motors out of those buses.

Cait Sith Posted December 5, 2010 Share #13 Posted December 5, 2010 Nice collection of photos of a little bit of New York being scrapped away... The NYBS Fishbowl looks great, glad they decided to keep at least one of those in good shape. I can't imagine ALL of those RTSes are scrapped, no? 8987 etc. look like they're reserve buses, as I don't think they've had their springs cut out yet. These shots look to be old, 8987 is at LGA now Well how 'bout the 500-600 the had. are they gone or still in the yard?Plus Orion VII #7672 looks really bad which accident it got involved in? IIRC, the CNG tank got screwed over at West Farms depot, engulfing the bus in flames.

Mac Claire Posted December 23, 2010 Share #23 Posted December 23, 2010 Great Shots! Does my heart good to see a NYBS fishbowl still with the ability to perform in service. I worked for NYBS when those upper 1400-1500 series buses arrived on the scene. I remember them well.
