Shortline Bus Posted December 8, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2010 Lincoln Tunnel traffic snarls after bus driver's seizure sparks chain-reaction crash BY Rich Schapiro and John Lauinger NY DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS Wednesday, December 8th 2010 "Lincoln Tunnel traffic was snarled Wednesday afternoon after a driver of a Manhattan-bound bus had a seizure, causing a chain-reaction crash, officials said. The New Jersey Transit bus driver suffered the seizure about a thousand feet short of the tunnel exit on the New York side, a Port Authority official said. The out-of-control bus spun out and struck multiple cars, causing four people inside two vehicles to suffer minor injuries, the official said. It was not immediately clear if there were passengers on the bus at the time. The driver, who was not identified, was taken by ambulance to Roosevelt Hospital. The crash led to the closure of the south tube, which handles inbound traffic. Manhattan-bound cars were rerouted through a single lane in the tunnel's middle tube. The south tube was re-opened at about 1:17 p.m., but delays into Manhattan were still averaging about 40 minutes, the official said."
