We did eventually reach the Rockaways on June 28, 1956 by purchasing the L.I.R.R. Rockaways trestle, tying it into the Fulton Street El and tying the Fulton Street El into the Fulton Street subway; We just didn't reach the Rockaways from Roosevelt Avenue.
