The in post 1983 meant it just bypassed the 138th St/Grand Concourse station in peak direction rush hours like now. To Manhattan AM Rush and From Manhattan PM Rush. Bascally it's same pattern as now but the "Diamond' was dropped a few years back. Prior to 1983 the (4)ran to Flatbush during rush hours only and during overnights when the (3)did not run. Weekday Middays from about 10am-2:20pm the Brooklyn Terminal was Atlantic Ave. Weekends the ran to Utica. So it was very confusing as the had '3' Brooklyn terminals during the 1970's and the early '80's. While the (2)ran to New Lots at all times. The and switched terminals in Brooklyn so that the (3)could have easy acccess to a train which was the Livionia Yards. Hope it clears it up. IRT Bronx Express Posted December 10, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 10, 2010 Looking at the Revised 1979 (Fall 1980) map, there is no mention of the diamond . Same for the 1987-1989 map. All I can think of is the 138 Street bypass during the weekday rush hours.

IRT Bronx Express Posted December 10, 2010 Share #6 Posted December 10, 2010 Damn, you took the words out of my mouth. I was going to mention that after rechecking the maps.
mark1447 Posted December 10, 2010 Share #7 Posted December 10, 2010 I'm wondering of the roll sign was acually used, even if all of this happened.
IRT Bronx Express Posted December 10, 2010 Share #8 Posted December 10, 2010 If the <5>/<6> rollsigns were used back in the day, then it's possible that the rollsign was used.
Shortline Bus Posted December 10, 2010 Share #9 Posted December 10, 2010 I'm wondering of the roll sign was acually used, even if all of this happened. Yes young man it was. One of cousins used to live right off the Moshulu Pwy stop on the (4)and my mom used to take me to see her at least 1x a month and spend the weekend. That included using the train that bypassed 138th. And IRT unlike most of you on the board I was alive in the '80's in grade school/middle school. bknightshadow45 Posted December 10, 2010 Share #10 Posted December 10, 2010 Back when the ran the R62's I have seen roll signs on the side of the train and both ends of the train. It's very rare that I only seen it once or twice in the 1990's.
