Guest MTA Bus Posted December 10, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2010 When are MTA Bus going to get the NovaBus LSFA Buses ? Also, if they get them, are they going to go to LGA beacuse if you put one of those on the Q53, more people can get on and off the bus faster and quicker. Infamous85 Posted December 10, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 10, 2010 LFSA (artic) or LFS (regular)? LFS's are coming soon I think but idk about anymore LFSA's for now. But I agree, Queens in general could use artics.

East New York Posted December 11, 2010 Share #5 Posted December 11, 2010 The MTA plans to award a contract for 185 artics next summer. The only MTA Bus depots scheduled to take delivery of any are Baisley Park, and JFK.

BP isn't ready to handle artics yet. The depot stlii needs to undergo some modifications.
akamtabx36 Posted December 12, 2010 Share #8 Posted December 12, 2010 didnt they have artics before when queens had them and when is the BX getting new artics many of the drivers at WF feel as if they needed new articulated buses
East New York Posted December 12, 2010 Share #9 Posted December 12, 2010 didnt they have artics before when queens had them and when is the BX getting new artics many of the drivers at WF feel as if they needed new articulated buses The 90 Nova artics we have now are test buses. MTA wants to evaluate these buses extensively before they commit to a further 185. So it looks like we won't get anymore until next fall. Yes, BP tested artics out but they are unable to maintain them. The TA wants the depots to be able to fully support them before they send a larger fleet. As of right now, BP and JFK are supposed to get 72 artics combined.

East New York Posted December 12, 2010 Share #11 Posted December 12, 2010 They have about another 2 years of life left, then they need to be tossed out. Naw. There is no way they can last that long. They are already 14 years old right now. They will be retired next year. They aren't doing as well as they should be.

Joel Up Front Posted December 15, 2010 Share #17 Posted December 15, 2010 Chalk retiring even some of the best RTS buses out there to the "Every Polluter is an [deleted]" Agency... I know the RTS buses had crappy hydraulics (i.e. wheelchair lifts), massive blind spots, and basically inoperable if the bus operator was tall... but they were built tough and I love those Detroit Diesel engines.
