To round out 2010, ENY finally goes subway!!!

That's right ladies and gentleman. I finally have an inside look on all things subway!! As of late, I'm sure most of you have have noticed that right after the string of bus orders, I took a small break. During that break, I prepared myself mentally for what is to come. I have always loved the subway, but was never really into it like buses. Now that I have had the great pleasure of being I moderator, I have learned many things about the subway, that I never thought would be interesting to me.

Thank you all for your time, dedication, and support throughout the years. You all got me interested in the subway. So for 2011, and the first time ever, I will try to keep up, and bring you guys the goods on all the fun and interesting subway stuff when I can! Merry Christmas NYCTF.................

The first ever NYCTF (MTA) Subway Exclusive by East New York!!

The MTA is set to award several contracts, and make some major upgrades and improvements to the system over all. Many of them have already begun. Over the next 6 months, we be discussing many hot topics. So lets get started!!!

It's official!! The New York City Transit is set to award 2 contracts back to back in the near future!

1.) A base order of 290 B-Div R179's

2.) An optional order of 123 A-Div R188's

After that, towards the end of next year, MTA has committed to awarding a contract for an option of 50 additional R179's!!!:tup::tup:

Following that contract, one will be awarded for SIR R46 car retrofit kits.

Stay tuned! We have more subway stuff to come!B)

Not worth the tooling cost I see.Bombardier still needs to redeem itself from the R142 order a few years back.

What's wrong with the 142s (other than they look grungy as hell)? It's the 142As that sound like they have Redbird brakes when trying to slow down.

Do you realise how much $$$$ it will cost to bring R46's to SI? They'd have to out railings on the side to the cars for the crew to climb into and out of the cars from the roadbed and make the cars compatible with the SIR signal system.

Plus, if R46's are transfered, what will take their place on the "mainland"?

They had some propulsion and brake issues on a moderate scale sometime back.A few years ago haven`t you noticed how slow R142s use to be compared to today?

Well yeah, they used to be slow. But now look at the current conditions. Tons of R142As with squealing brakes due to the dead motors. And on alot of the R142 and 142As the light covers are now yellow.

Id prefer Railroad fleets on the SIRTOA, not subway cars. =_=. Especially since the SIR is a railroad tho with some NYCT "features". The Only Railroad fleet i see is the BL20GH in Clifton.

But I already knew R46s will head to the SIRTOA.

And i dont know if this is exclusive as a lot of us already knew this. But the 50 extra 179s i didn't know.

SIR has had rapid transit cars since the 20's except for a few borrowed railroad cars. They can't use railroad cars anymore because of the lengths of the platforms.

Yeeechhhh!!!! I hate when the light covers turn yellow. It takes away the whole "Indirect lighting" Effect off the white ivory walls. All they have to do is take off the covers and wipe em.OXY CLEAN!!!!!! HI!!! BILLY MAYS HERE!!!!B)

1) Is the North Shore Branch also like this?

2) Can the BL20GH actually fit thru the SIR stations? I mean that locomotive is found on the Metro-North which MNR has wider cars compared to the B Div.
