60' or 75' ?

so... the last i heard, the TA hasnt decided if the R-170's will be 60 or 75 footers.

makes more sense to have them 60, so they can go to more locations, but what do i know?

anyone hear anything else?

Here's the whole thing:

The R-179s are part of the R-160 contract. It was optional, planning to replace the R-44s & 46s. It's to be 75 feet in length. There aren't anypictures as of yet, but I'll find some.

An option order from the R160 order will be referred to as the R179, which is what's sparking so much discussion.

It always was part of the R160 contract the (NYCT) already confirmed this in that capical plan document a few weeks ago......

how do you guys get so much info so fast.

i was just talking to one of the engineers/acceptance guys on wed. and he said they havent decided on the length yet.....unless he just doesnt know whats going on around him.....IN THE TA??? nahhh that cant be. B)

I belive the (NYCT) is going to order more R160B for the (Q) and (E)(F)(G)(R) and (V) lines....

 

Nope I think they are done because the other options currently stand under R-179. The A-2s will probably go on the (E)(F) and (R) and a few 160Bs will go to the (V). All other R-160Bs will run on the (N) and (W).

Wrong,the R160 order isn't done.you still have the option I and (if taken)

option II order's which will bring in more R160's.the R179 is a diffrent contract

that'll replace the 75FT R44 cars(last i heard).the R160A-2's won't be going

to the (E)(F) and (R) lines.the R160B's won't be going to the (V) line.

Some of the shells for 8973 and up are at kawasaki factory in yonkers. So are NOT done with the R160B order yet and the (Q) is getting R160s in the fall. So basiclly the R160B will run on the (N)(Q)(W) and maybe the Queens blvd lines or queens might get 179s.....

Uh they cant go to the (A) and (C) lines. And the R68s arent getting retired anytime soon so the (B) and (D) lines is out of the question. And the R46s are going to pikin yard to replace the MK R42s in a few years. So basiclly something has to take the R46s place and that will be an NTT ethier the 160s or 179s.....

I didn't say anywhere in that post that the R160's were going to the (A) and (C) lines.

 

I was elemating the options about where they can go. The way its looking the R160/179s will go to the boadway line eastern div and queens blvd. Theres no where else they can go.......

The R160's and R179's are both going to the QB line.that'll push out the R46

and they'll go to Pitkin and run on the (A),(C) and the Rock Pk Shuttle.(or the (H) line)

Yep. Now that the R160s are done, It's time to focus on The R179. Ijust wish there were some pictures.....B)

 

Only the base order of the R160B is complete. You still have over 100 cars left of the R160A base order, then 260 more cars from option one for the R160B, and 360 more for the first option of R160A orders.

 

Then the (MTA) can still take the second option order...

Do you have any proof that the (MTA) will move 752 R46 cars to Pitkin to replace the R42s? They will be moved anyway later (or maybe even retired), because yes, you're right. R179s are going to Jamaica Yard.

The R46s are going to pikin to replace the R44 and the MK R42s. Its already been said that the R46s will replace the R44s and the MK R42s. The R46s are going to pikin yard weather you want to belive it or not.

Al of them or only some? I thought the R179 order was only 250 or so cars.
