ladyjay114 Posted December 27, 2010 Share #52 Posted December 27, 2010 Did the MTA make a public call for snow shovelers?? Usually they'd put it out there for a dig out like this one, but I haven't heard one. And I did see an F train on the tracks leaving the West 8th Street station so something's finally running out of Stillwell
Gorgor Posted December 27, 2010 Share #53 Posted December 27, 2010 Due to inclement weather, train service is running express between the 74th Street-Broadway Station and the Queensboro Plaza Station. How does this work? There's only one express track, or does one way just run on the local tracks and pass through the stations? And I've also been making maps of the current service changes and put them into a mini-slideshow in order (only 3 maps so far) and I'll continue to update them as service changes. http://scaped.net/mta/blizzard.html

CenSin Posted December 27, 2010 Share #59 Posted December 27, 2010 Let your imagination run wild, because if you can think it, it's probably happening. This is the craziest slew of service changes since 9/11. Just imagine having 3 service changes applied to your line over the course of your train ride. I don't think I could keep up even with a mobile app alerting me to the service changes. The is apparently running between Astoria and Whitehall Street now. I can only assume terminating trains at 59 Street was troublesome. And they should have probably suspended the entirely since the Brighton line is out of service and the doesn't serve much of a purpose along Broadway in this climate. NX Express Posted December 28, 2010 Share #70 Posted December 28, 2010 "Due to inclement weather, train service is suspended between the Carroll Street Station and Church Avenue Station in both directions." How does that work? Downtown trains turn at Carroll, uptown trains turn at Church. Probably because all the CI trains are stored in the four tunnels underground. NX Express Posted December 28, 2010 Share #74 Posted December 28, 2010 What happened with WMTA? Whenever they have a snowstorm, it's a practiced ritual: suspend all above-ground trains suspend all buses They do it so often that it's not a problem.
