Locomotion69 Posted January 27, 2011 Share #126 Posted January 27, 2011 Also 3 ppl pass in my class 1 fail so he is going to day 8 and 9 I hope he make real good guy but mess up doing his parking, you have to be almost perfect. Congrats on passing on day 7th! Pass is pass no matter if it was barely or not. How far away from the curb do they allow for parallel parking? What is your 1st pick for depot? I guess Spring Creek. Or do they not give you a choice with MTA Bus, I think they send you where there is a need.
sjdmt Posted January 27, 2011 Share #127 Posted January 27, 2011 Sjdmt I no you are excited but be cool like I told you, your teacher will shows you everthing, I promise, the wrap around the alsaps(air breaks test) pretrip etc, just listen to everythe he or she tell you, note: when you driving call out everything you are doing even if you think you sound crazy, call it out, tell the teacher when you are scaning your mirror,or moving over to the left cuz you are forward planing do that everyday, and day 1 is not really day 1 you are in class doing paper work, on day 2 is when you start driving. In fact on the 31 I will be in the bronx doing my CPR and finding out what depo I will be doing my line training. thank you, i will be cool. i have my kid's test me on my pre-trip the inside of the bus at home. lawbattle4 Posted January 27, 2011 Share #128 Posted January 27, 2011 I want to say 6" to 12" as far as the depo goes I done really no, and no spring creek would not be my first choice, diff depo pay higher than other and I heard spring creek is one of lowest paying. But I also heard they send you where they you, so we will see.

Locomotion69 Posted January 27, 2011 Share #133 Posted January 27, 2011 Sorry for any miss spell words, I'm typing on my phone and sometime I just don't type too well, or well. No problem, it doesn't bother me. FDBguy is the spelling and grammar Nazi on here. You are right about Spring Creek, some MTA Bus depots are TWU, others ATU. I figured you would want to be close to home. I remember reading about a MTA Bus B/O who lived 5 minutes away from Eastchester Depot in the Bronx but works out of the Baisley Park Depot in south Jamaica and they wouldn't let him transfer out. Locomotion69 Posted January 28, 2011 Share #139 Posted January 28, 2011 lawbattle: Out of your group of 4 students how many had just their CDL permits versus their CDL's, and how many if any at all had prior bus driving experience.

lawbattle4 Posted January 28, 2011 Share #141 Posted January 28, 2011 Out of 4 of us 3 had our CDL plus a lil driving exp, the one that fail didn't have his cdl and never drove a bus, just a truck.

Interesting, they prefer those without their CDL's so they don't bring with them any bad habits. Does the right hand side mirror have a small convex mirror on the corner to see the blind spots? I believe you will get to drive the hybrids tomorrow at Zerega.
primomjr78 Posted January 28, 2011 Share #143 Posted January 28, 2011 Alex l if you're out there do you know of any upcoming cr or to classes ? And if so what list #'s are they up to for both titles . Thanks
jmazz77 Posted January 29, 2011 Share #144 Posted January 29, 2011 there is no convex mirror on the training buses. They purposely do not put one so you HAVE to lean in and look. You get about 20 minutes on the hybrid..
lawbattle4 Posted January 29, 2011 Share #145 Posted January 29, 2011 Yup your right, we drove about 20 to 30 min on the hybirds, it was cool, a real relax day. And no small mirrors on the training buses, they want to see you dance in your seat, lol. Also out of the 53 ppl that was in my whole class, only 22 made it on day 7, wow, i was surprise, i thought it would be more. Going to flatbush depo, to make up our snow day, better than going to the bronx, some people are going to other depo, depends where you live. And yes they perfer you to not have your cdl, but alot of ppl who don't have they cdl's are scary to drive a big bus.

Less then 50% passed on day 7, so out of the 31 left lets see how many pass on either day 9 or 10. I remember reading on here once that they let you put on a blind spot mirror on the right hand side, maybe it depends on the instructor. So they want you to dance in the seat but with no music playing, haha. My guess is that send you to LGA or College Point depot come Monday, both have the most lines out of the 8 MTA Bus depots.
