It's also a good sign that one of the first sets delivered is finally in service. Just an FYI, it's likely that 3010-3014 could go back to Bombardier for the same mods as 3015-3019 in the near future.

As DJ Hammers explained, it's not necessarily a bad thing in itself; the mods are being done there because the MTA does not have the resources to do them. The mods are necessary to bring them up to spec so they can enter service.
Lawrence St Posted May 6, 2018 Share #5867 Posted May 6, 2018 So we only have half a 10 car set right now?

Yes, but it's entirely possible that 3010-3014 will go to Bombardier for the same mods as 3015-3019. Not really a huge issue (relatively speaking) since the full 10-car train won't be in service for at least a few months and the priority is to get ENY to be 100% NTT as soon as possible.
Eric B Posted May 7, 2018 Share #5869 Posted May 7, 2018 (edited) If the G train gets 23 trainsets with a few terminating at Bedford/Nostrand Av& the remaining at Church Av, that means that half of the Brooklyn F trains would have to run express between Jay St & Church Av because the local tracks between Bergen St & Church Av will be way too crowded to handle more local trains & would cause delays especially with G trains terminating at Church Av. This then will be probably be what finally prompts the express service that had been proposed for awhile now anyway (and was supposed to begin when the Culver viaduct was finished). There are 3tph of scheduled to go express. Beyond that is unnecessary -- remember that 3tph will end at BedNos, making only 12tph run through to Church.

Since it's relatively low, however, will it be listed on the maps? There are many other rush hour variants even along the lettered lines ( to 168 St, to 179 St) that are not on the full map but in the schedule.
RR503 Posted May 8, 2018 Share #5873 Posted May 8, 2018 3 hours ago, Vtrain said: So it looks like half of the F trains will be running express in Brooklyn when the G train gets additional service when the L train shuts down in April 2019 but will only rune 3tph. When you mean 3tph, how many F trains will run express & how many hours of operations during peak periods will it operate. This is quite literally not what I said. will run 15tph Court Square <-> Bedford Nostrand, 12tph Bedford Nostrand <-> Church Avenue (extension of some trains to 18th Ave is in the cards) will run 14tph 179<->KH/Coney Island, with 3 tph of that running express in the peak direction during rush hours to ease Church congestion. When exactly those trains will run remains to be seen. Also, FYI, I heard from a reliable source that as of now, the larger express plan is not being pushed forwards. As always, that can change with political winds, but it isn't coming soon.
