3102-3105+3114-3117 was transferred to ENY tonight for burn testing prior to entering service on the J.

3118-3121 should arrive this week. Stuff is moving along smoothly.

This is good news for the Canarsie shutdown. We'll soon have EIGHT TRAINS ON THE (J)!!!

But have 3078-3081 and 3114-3117 entered service yet? It makes sense, given that 3102-3105/3114-3117 are doing burn-ins.

And FYI, more the R32s will get transferred to 207 St because two R179s are going to enter service soon.

And YET another update!

Bolded sets are in service.

3010-3014: At 207 St, possibly to get sent to Bombardier

3015-3019: Bombardier, being repaired

3050-3057: In service on the (J)

3058-3065: In service on the (J)

3066-3069/3090-3093: In service on the (J)

3078-3081/3110-3113: In service on the (J) or doing burn-ins.

3082-3085/3098-3101: In service on the (J)

3086-3089/3094-3097: In service on the (J)

3102-3105/3114-3117: Burn-ins, at ENY

3106-3109: Pitkin Yard, testing in the Rockaways

3118-3121: To arrive this week

Potential deliveries:

Still missing 3070-3077...wut?

3122-3125: possibly to arrive the next or following week

CORRECTION: I meant 16 trains

There are 49 four-car sets and 24 five-car sets, so it adds up to 196 + 120= 316 respectively. I think it's 24 trains of four-car sets and 12 trains of 5-car sets IINM. But so far, we have a total of 74 cars on property, AKA one train made of five-car sets/eight made of four-car sets, or two five-car sets and 16 four-car sets on property.

Awesome!! If things continue to work smoothly and no more issues occur we may have all r179's by the end of the year. Lets keep our fingers crossed!!!

I don't think we'll have all 316 in service by the end of the year. However, I can say 3010-3019 will enter service on the (A) in fall, based on info. And I think all four-car sets will be on property by then. The five-car sets, on the other hand, will probably start being delivered.

Has anyone seen the 5 car set recently?

We only know that we have half a set (3010-3014) on MTA property, and the other half (3015-3019) at Bombardier. Besides, the four-car sets will be arriving first, so why worry about it?

I think in June or July, we'll see 3015-3019 return, and wrap up both EMI and burn-in testing with 3010-3014 in September.

East New York is gonna be left with R42’s along with whatever R160/143’s it has and their R179’s then...

Nope, even the R42s will go out to another line (although which line is speculation ATM).  There's a reason all the four-car sets are being delivered first--the priority is to get ENY to be 100% NTT before the shutdown so as to improve running times (although the time gain is negligible unless they remove the timers).  Still, having newer trains will still help out the (J) and (Z).

When the R179 is signed up as a (Z) , you may see the inside and outside blank. It's just the letter that shows up.

I was just talking about that. There’s R179’s that displays the route and destination, The lone “Z”  display has only been seen on 3050-3057

The R42's are going to the (B)

The r42's might not run at all once all r179's are in service. They'll probably be on "standby" during the shutdown.

Don't forget that there will be a surplus of subway cars once all r179's are delivered.

As per current plans, R42s will be running on the (B) during the shutdown. That said, I don't think they'll be headed directly there from the (J)...

3082-3085 and 3098-3101 also do the blank thing.

It's a universal issue with the skip stop/Jamaica Express (Z) program. The Nassau Street Local (Z) program works fine.

I think I might have an answer to 3070-3077's whereabouts.

On wikipedia, it says 82 cars were constructed/built.

However, six R179s are in service on the (J), adding to 48 cars, two are doing burn-ins, which adds up to 16 cars, and there's the five-car sets 3010-3019. But it only adds up to 74 subway cars constructed. This means there's two four-car sets missing, as 74 + 8 = 82. It has to be 3070-3077 because newly delivered R179s would increase the amount of cars constructed on wikipedia. For example, when 3122-3125 arrive, it would increase it to 86 cars.

Therefore, I can assume 3070-3077 was already constructed, but probably needs a lot of work done and is still at the Bombardier plant in Plattsburgh.

I notice the R179s don’t have Bluetooth installed. Looking at the (J) line on Subway time, I saw a 30 minute gap in SB service this afternoon but as I rode the NB (J) I saw two R179s in the gap which means the R179s aren’t on SubwayTime. Anyone notice this?
