The 5000s were also built before Bombardier tanked tho

Some claim that Bombardier had tanked before they built the R-142's.  Some retirees even despised the R-62A's when new!  I think that may have had more to do with the original NYAB braking, though.

Like you said "some" retirees. I loved the 62A's and R142's and hated the Kawasaki counterparts. Then again I loved my Redbirds ( 8806-9075) more than anything else we had in the IRT back then. To each his own I guess.😊 Carry on

Dam it is too late for the MTA to add more B-cars to this order to make the (C) 's fleet of R179 5 car sets instead of 4 cars sets we have now?:(

At this point, yeah most likely. Honestly having 4 car sets for the (C) was shortsighted on the (MTA)‘s part but I believe once the R211’s arrive, they will probably bump the R179s to ENY. Too bad the MTA never extended the platforms at eastern division stations to support 10 car lengths. Definitely would have benefited the (M) since it travels through the other parts of the system.

Does this mean R179’s on the (A) are now more common than R32’s? How many R32 trains does the (A) still have?

I believe so. I've barely seen r32's on the A only during the weekdays and I've been seeing and riding the r179's on the A more often without even chasing them.

During the week I usually see 3-4 sets of R32’s on weekends there is either one set or none at all.

I guess they do not want to over work R32.

True. We might see a decrease of r32's on the A once the rest of the r179's enter service on the A. The C will definitely keep the same number of r32's and r179's until the r211's. I still believe that the G will get the r179's from the C once the r211's enter service.
