A set has re-entered passenger service on the (A) (R179) . The R160s may still be on the line filling in for the other tested trains in-service.

I rode that set this afternoon from 125th Street to Fulton street. It ran slow around 42nd Street due to track work. Other than that, it was a smooth ride.

It appeared to be 3253-7 and 3248-52.

Unknown why as yet.  Re-test for the (A) fleet was as best known not yet underway.

What about the C train on R179 maybe there testing it to get back in service because so far A train is back on R179.

The one train on (A) is just that as yet.  One train shown as released.  Just 10 cars, none others.

Nothing at all yet about those from (C).  Planned assignments were not as yet solidified.

The 64 Re-testing R-179s as of October 5 were:

3050-53, 3058-61, 3066-73, 3078-85, 3098-3121, 3126-29, 3134-45.

These were configured into 8, 8-car trains on (J)(Z) as projected.

One 10-car train (3248-57) has also been released on (A).

Two 8-car trains of R-32s were also on the (J)(Z) cycle (somewhere).

There is still no apparent status change for the R-32 fleet.

There's two 10-car R179s on the (A) since a few days ago (3238-47) and no R32s saw service today.

Sort of a random thought but has anyone else gotten pics / vids of an R160 passing over the hammel's eye connector? There's a train that deadheads from Far Rock to Rock Park passing over the wye at 6:35 PM and around 7:15 PM as well as one the other way in the AM usually directly behind the (S)huttle after the second (A) out (and another at an unknown time, possibly earlier). I've attempted many times however either only caught R46s or just missed an R160 passing by seconds (at least 5 times now ugh).

Nothing on the paper report of a second (A) train (yet) through AM of Monday, 5 October.  Three days ago.

The R32 will retire soon as possible when the R179 is complete working on the J and Z train and then working on the A and C train right now there's 8 trains on 8 cars is on the J and Z line and so far there's only one A train on R179 10 set with R160 10 sets cars and 2 trains on 8 sets R32 on the j and z line for now until further notice to be completed for R179.

Yes actually, I believe that becomes one of the AM (A) trips to 59th St from Rockaway Park.

Where do they go to now? 168th St or Dyckman St?

Most of the Rock Park trains terminate at 207 because those crews started their work day at Rock Park and have other trips to do.  Some trains from Lefferts and Far Rock terminate at 200th St. and go to the yard because some are midnight crews finishing their workday.

Seems like the day after is when they threw the second set out. This morning around 6AM I happened to see two (both?) at the same time crossing by the wye. One of them was 3243-52, unsure what the other was and if there's still only two out.

The Two R179’s on the (A) are as they were before being taken out of service. The software delays are still present, and the AAS hasn’t been updated at all. And the R32’s did see service. YOU missed it.

Make that three, I just witnessed 3263-3272 heading to Far Rockaway.

No, an R32 did not see service today, only thing I missed was you being right.

EDIT: Make that FOUR! 3015-3019 is hooked up to another 32xx and also heading to Far Rock.

Expect to see an increasing amount of R179s return to the (A) in the next few days. Get your R160 (A) shots while you can.

Now it's eyes on when they'll hit the (C) again as eventually they want to remove all or some of the 46s off the (C) as relaying at each terminal with R46s requires paying extra crew or the op walking through the entire train having to relock each storm door as they pass which potentially could cause a delay. Although anything is possible at the moment with the future of the (C)'s equipment considering the only reason 46s returned to the (C) in March was to push out the 32s.

One big reason the full length trains are now on  is for maximization of distancing, which will probably require them to stay until the health issues are resolved in the future.

In fact, would it not be possible to use the 10-car R-179s on  as well as  for the same reason?

When or if (i.e. where?) the former fleet from  (3146-3237) is to be restored is uncertain.

Terminal cost is not a reason to reduce the capacity, sparse as it may seem given the ongoing pandemic.

As I understand the  is now "double-ended" for relays which eliminates the need for a complete walk-through with associated unlock/relock for each car as previously.

You do realize those AM trips to 59th Street hasn't happened since 2004? They were extended to 168th Street and Dyckman Street and as of 2013 to 207th Street.

There was 10 car set sitting between stations S/B between Nostrand and Kingston-Throop Ave, NIS. Eventually it passed my (C) train and went though Utica Ave.

My (C) stopped at Utica, riders boarded and exited, my train left and caught up to that same OOS R179 set! That 179 had to have an mechanical problem of some sort, as the 179s are leaps and bound faster than the R46.

There was also a large gap in (A) service as I had JUST missed a (C) train, 10 minutes later no (A) came and a C train came... this was due to an gap in (A) service cause an train had to be removed from service at 175th street.
