m106crosstown 0 #1 Posted April 24, 2008 Anybody know what type of buses will be ordered for Bee-Line Bus and when they will be delivered?
East New York 4,046 #2 Posted April 24, 2008 Supposedly they are the Gillig Hybrids. I don't know when they are to get any more than the demo bus they have now.

nycbusfan 2 #4 Posted April 24, 2008 what is gillig and they already have a demo bus in service? Gillig is a bus manufacturer who builds buses for mostly small and medium size TA's. Click Here to visit their website.
m106crosstown 0 #5 Posted April 24, 2008 There was bus 800 in Westchester. Was that Gillig or Orion? If it was Gillig they look exactly like the Orion.
East New York 4,046 #6 Posted April 24, 2008 There was bus 800 in Westchester. Was that Gillig or Orion? If it was Gillig they look exactly like the Orion. Seeing as there is no 800 on the Bee-Line Roster I am assuming that it is the demo. But are you sure it looks like an Orion? Either an Orion V, or VII? How long did it look? Either way, It is definitely a demo because Bee starts fleet numbers at 01, so when they take delivery of the new buses it will be 801.
DOB2RTO 29 #7 Posted April 24, 2008 Some info here: http://beelinebus.com/ Click first link. On the model, no info, unless someone who knows bus models spotted it.....
trainfan22 1,782 #8 Posted April 24, 2008 (edited) I think that bus will be made by orion. Because the orion V looks just like that bus and orion makes a lot of buses that look simlar to that one. So my guess would be that orion is making them.... Edited April 25, 2008 by trainfan22
Pablo M 201 35 #9 Posted April 24, 2008 Yea, Bee-Line is looking for new buses and supposedly Gillig is going to be bidding. I hope NFI gets the contract instead of Gillig, I really hope.
East New York 4,046 #10 Posted April 24, 2008 That is the Orion V. I called my guy at Daimler to get a little more info. Bee-Line is to take delivery of 39 new 2008 Orion V Suburbans, with delivery set to be complete this summer. The buses will be numbered 800-838, but may be re-numbered 801-839. The busses are equipted with the Caterpillar C13 ACERT and Allison B500R. They received bus #800 on April 21, and the bus went into revenue service testing today. (April 24) Let's not confuse this order with the 95 new hybrids that Bee-Line is also set to recieve in the coming months. I just hope they are not those crappy Gilligs. They currently have 4 Orion VII Hybrids in service.

East New York 4,046 #12 Posted April 25, 2008 I thought the orion wasnt making the orion V anymore? They will remain in production for a little longer. See this thread. http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2681
