Blitz Posted May 23, 2011 Share #51 Posted May 23, 2011 That bus is nice. I could see those at Gleason, West Farms and College Point. Maybe Long Island Westfarms a definite possibility. CP, i'm going with a definite no for a couple reasons. #1 that place is stuffed as it is. unless MTA purchases that police impound lot across the street, they won't have parking for artics. #2 their maintenance bays are single pull-in style bays just like how pep boys or strauss is. unless they spend money to redesign the whole maintenance building and add some space, artics will not fit. With Gleason, it would have the same problems as CP. Even though the depot looks huge (and is huge inside) its really only built for a 40ft bus to maneuver inside. unless they rip out all of the in-ground piston lifts and use all portables, they are not gonna have anywhere they can work on the buses Now if these rumors that i am hearing about MCH being a CNG depot when its finished are true, than it would be a definite possibility along with WF as the destination for these buses if TA decides to test them out
East New York Posted May 23, 2011 Author Share #52 Posted May 23, 2011 whats the XD90s look like? That was a typo. It was supposed to read XD60! Thanks! Westfarms a definite possibility. At the time, the only bus that had been produced was the CNG in the pic, and I was also hearing from other sources that the TA wanted to look into testing a diesel version. I think the TA will end up testing both, or possibly just ordering some CNG's in the future. The reason I say this is because all the new diesel test buses are opening the door for further evaluation of alternative fuel buses of the same platforms. The XD60's (diesel) will be here next year to test. I heard MCH could be CNG as well. I could definitely see some XC60's at West Farms too. And yes you are right, Gleason would have to be modified. King Of RedBirds Posted May 23, 2011 Share #53 Posted May 23, 2011 I could definitely see some of these Articulated CNG's at West Farms Depot, and possibly College Point. Couldn't you?? Blitz Posted May 23, 2011 Share #54 Posted May 23, 2011 another thing i want to throw into this discussion is that middle door. now on +SBS+ the whole reasoning behind the middle door is to speed up loading and unloading of passengers. if the bus is not going to be used for SBS service i don't think the middle door should be included especially because it takes away a good 4 to 6 seats from the bus

NYCtrainfan01 Posted May 23, 2011 Share #56 Posted May 23, 2011 The New Flyer XC60 should go to the Bx40 ASAP! And maybe the SBS routes... yes i agree with you. lord knows that the BX40 and BX42 need help. i remember when i was still in H.S. i had to take one of those two buses to get to school and back home and it always took a long time for it to come. i can definitely imagine The New Flyer XC60 sporting the SBS colors. It's a real possibility some XD60's may go to West Farms. We won't be seeing any XC60's any time soon though.

East New York Posted May 24, 2011 Author Share #62 Posted May 24, 2011 It seems like New Flyer is going in over their heads! sheesh How? Nobody makes more buses than they do. I'm about 98% sure the 565 (655 with options) buses they are about to build will exceed the TA's expectations overall as a whole. And they are getting them at a damn good price, so that certainly helps. Gets perhaps the last LF's to ever be built, and the first XD60's to ever be built. I don't think it get's much better than that!

We basically have 418 artics coming in once the New Flyer order is approved.
