Harry 1,088 Posted May 30, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 30, 2007 I need someone who rode the Acela on the northeast corridor to post about it.

Trainspotter 0 Posted June 16, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 16, 2007 I haven't been on Acela but I have taken a Regional from NWK to Washington DC. That must have been a nice ride. How long was the trip? and also which train did you ride?
Pablo M 201 35 Posted June 16, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 16, 2007 That must have been a nice ride. How long was the trip? and also which train did you ride? The trip was about 3 hours. And I was on an AmFleet pulled by an AEM7.
Harry 1,088 Posted June 17, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted June 17, 2007 I used to have an Amfleet trainset with the AEM-7 locomotive and three Amfleet coaches that I bought from Train World on McDonald Avenue in Brooklyn. That was my favorite train consist ever. I never did get to ride one in real life. I'm glad they're still running them now. I still got a chance to. Mr. Harlem Line 0 Posted June 17, 2007 Share #6 Posted June 17, 2007 I've never been on an Acela, but I have been on a few long-distance trains (Silver Meteor, Silver Star, Palmetto and Carolinian). They were pretty nice rides overall and wouldn't mind taking those trains again. There's plenty of legroom on the Amfleet II, but the Viewliner roomettes are pretty cramped. As for the Acela, it looks as if the price is more than what it's worth. Just my two cents.

NewJerseyT 0 Posted June 24, 2007 Share #8 Posted June 24, 2007 I think it is a big waste of money as well you only get in about an hour and a half earlier than the normal trains do. P.S. never go to D.C. on thanksgiving I went about 3 years ago, and the train was so over booked that there was people sitting in the vestubul(srry for the spelling I think I butchered it) People sitting inbettween the seats that were back to back. It was so bad that a 85 year old man!!!!!! was forced to stand because he was on the wrong train, and it was so bad that the local news got on the train and was doing a report on it!!! Anyway just a heads up for the holiday season.
Pablo M 201 35 Posted June 24, 2007 Share #9 Posted June 24, 2007 Yeah, it is really bad to travel during that time. Word of advice is book ahead of time and take an early train, say departing from 7AM to 9AM. Or could take Greyhound, they're pretty good during that holiday. NewJerseyT 0 Posted June 24, 2007 Share #10 Posted June 24, 2007 LOL thanks like I haven't thought of that, and we booked like a month in advance.
