Stick with the Cuomo colors, the early cars had the Yellow and Black scheme but Cuomo insisted that the cars have the Cuomo scheme.

They had the yellow, but not the black.

I actually prefer the change. Unlike the solid yellow, it's not eye-searing. (The black helps to set a contrast while maintaining a portion for those with lower vision.)

How many set do you reckon are in revenue service?

Here's what I've seen so far. 9011-9012 finally went revenue on the West Hempstead line a few days ago in a 6 car set. 9013-9014 still testing. 9077 up to 9104 are on daily testing runs and should see service soon. A friend saw 9123-9124 running the test track at Yonkers and they have up to 9140 on Yonkers property. The building process seems to be going quite fast. 9105-up should be delivered soon probably. For some reason, 9085-9086 is in service as a leading/trailing pair on a 12 car set I believe. 9049-9050 still awaiting service entry. Everything else from 9077-9104 beside 9085-9086 as I've said is testing still. Also awaitng the return of 9015-9016 which has been at Arch Street shops for months reciveing mods I believe. Not sure exactly what's up with that specific pair as of now ?

Thanks for the update. Good to know I was accurate except for 9011-9012 which just entered service. Also, good to hear everything from 9081-9104 is there. I assumed maybe some gaps but seems everything is coming in consecutive order. I saw 9085-9086 on the tracker today around 6:30pm, first time.

Another update as of today. 9097-9098 has entered service as of a few days ago. Seems like everything is going out of order. 9015-9016 still at Arch Street. 9077-9084 probably going under final preparation for service entry. Saw a test train at Jamaica on Tuesday consisting of 9092-9091-9106-9105-9088-9087. This should prove that 9087-up are still in testing status. Anyone that knows of new arrivals, comment here, have heard that CSX is slipping and becoming forgetful/failing to pick up cars to deliver.

Another update, 6 car test train including 9101-9102 on the end failed Tuesday morning at divide on its way to Ronkonkoma and had to be towed back by 4210, a 12 car M7 deadhead. This placed all sets out of service temporarily for Tuesdays PM rush and Wednesdays AM rush. Three Sets have come back so far. Two 12 car sets and one 10 car set. A test train is also enroute to Ronkonkoma tonight once again. Previous tests have ran recently the past day or so including Hempstead and Far Rockaway I believe along with another Ronkonkoma trip.

9083-9084 entered service as of yesterday morning. 9202, the last M9 has begun production in Nebraska. 9145-9146, 9147-9148 and 9153-9154 are in final assembly stages at the Yonkers factory. They're working on a number of problems to fix including the door locking mechanism, improperly assembled Toilet pipes, observer's seat cracking and loop steps. Kawasaki officials and techs have been riding aboard with LIRR staff to monitor conditions. Any new cars being delivered must have the current problems fixed before being accepted at this time. 26 cars in total are at Yonkers for final assembly.  24 cars are at Arch Street shops going under final checkups before starting testing and 16 cars are currently testing on LIRR property. The base order of 92 cars has been officially completed as the option order of 110 continues to be built. They are taking an average of 7-8 cars a month instead of 11-12 till all problems are fixed. If we get back to 11-12 cars a month, all cars should be in service by April 2022. Otherwise, it could go as late as October 2022.

Update for 7/2/21. 9124-9123 entered service as the leading pair on 2062 to Ronkonkoma. A new testing pair has also been setup in the following formation: 9104-9103-9118-9117-9078-9077-9088-9087-9070-9069.

Funny how 9123-9124 entered service so quickly but you still have 9013-9014, 9081-9082, 9087-9088 still testing. Seems to be that the latter sets that are being improved before delivery will be in-service before the existing testing sets are fully approved.

You know what's interesting about the M9s? They over 90% of the time are running late...

Like every M9 I catch is always over 5 mins late. The ones I track are always 2-3 mins late. I've never been seen an M9 ahead of schedule, and I've never been on an M9 that hit over 75mph on a 80mph zone. Why aren't these trains pushed as much as the M7s are?

The M9s are slow, even an engineer who operated them admitted they are slow. IDK why they are  perfomance downgrade from the M7s and even a well maintained M3, but it is what it is. They are reliable as they have excellent MDBF, they just accelerate poorly.

Crazy the oldest MUs in the Tri State (NJT Arrows) easily are the fastest accelerating MU in the region which is sad.

You get on a limited-stop run with those Arrorw's, it can feel like the car might fly right off the track. When I used to commute to Metropark daily, the express train I took was usually an Arrow set--as I exited the train each morning, I could smell the brakes after the set quickly came down from 80mph.
