Grand Concourse Posted March 18, 2011 Share #326 Posted March 18, 2011 This comes to show you that without the Court St stub connected to the Broadway or 2nd Av Lines, Utica Ave Subway is just be a shuttle from Fulton St down Utica..... cause the Utica, Fulton Local, Lefferts and Rockaways trains isn't all gonna fit in the Cranberry Tunnel. Correct me if I'm wrong!! It'll be wise for the new East River tunnel for the "LIRR to WTC" to include a subway tunnel. No, I agree. The Cranberry tunnel cannot handle the current and future utica Av lines running thru it. Court St would be needed to turn trains back and yes it should be connected via a new river tunnel to Manhattan. If they were to send the LIRR to Lower Manhattan, what becomes of the current station? short turns or just abandoned?

Grand Concourse Posted March 19, 2011 Share #329 Posted March 19, 2011 What do you mean?? nm Through station? I kinda doubt it. Mezzanine starts right where the platforms ends. I think for the LIRR to go from Brooklyn to Manhattan, it might need to be a new station entirely.
2Line1291 Posted March 21, 2011 Share #330 Posted March 21, 2011 It's very likely that they would build a new LIRR station as part of the WTC transportation hub or at least leave room for a future station. Building a new Court St staion to preserve the NYCTA Museum.... i don't know.
