B35 via Church Posted June 7, 2010 Share #676 Posted June 7, 2010 I have two guesses to this.... I'll just post the first one for now: The Q44. outside of the current Q44 service, you had the old Q44a, 44b, 44vp (vleigh place), and the 44fs (flushing shuttle) you want the current route numbers too... baahhh (lol)... 44a, IINM is todays Q46 44b, the malba route; there is no current route that exists for this (I may have the 44a & 44b swapped, though) 44fs, today's q20a/b 44vp, dead giveaway w/ the "vp"... that's today's q74
Q43LTD Posted June 9, 2010 Share #677 Posted June 9, 2010 I have one. Up to the 1980s, which NYCT routes in Queens had the most "feeders"? List the feeders and their currents route numbers。 The Q5 The Q5A now the Q85 The Q5AB now the Q85 to Rochdale, hence why it only runs during rush-hour There was another Q5 that ran on 225 St, but I forgot the designation. The Q5S which ran on Francis Lewis, which is now the defunct Q86
Q101 E Midtown Posted June 10, 2010 Share #678 Posted June 10, 2010 B35 and Q43, you guys are both right. I forgot to say which two routes in Queens, but yeah, those were the answers.
EE Broadway Local Posted June 17, 2010 Share #679 Posted June 17, 2010 Two part Queens Surface trivia question: Queens Surface (now part of MTA Bus) came together in 1986 as a result of the merging of two former private bus line operators in Queens: 1) Can you name the two former operators that merged to form Queens Surface; 2) From the 1986 merger to 1988 when Linden Bus Company acquired the routes and renamed it Queens Surface, what was its' original name? East New York Posted July 1, 2010 Author Share #680 Posted July 1, 2010 Two part Queens Surface trivia question: Queens Surface (now part of MTA Bus) came together in 1986 as a result of the merging of two former private bus line operators in Queens: 1) Can you name the two former operators that merged to form Queens Surface; 2) From the 1986 merger to 1988 when Linden Bus Company acquired the routes and renamed it Queens Surface, what was its' original name? Looks like nobody knows the answers. So IIRC: 1) Queens Transit Corp., and Steinway Transit Corp. 2) Queens/Steinway Transit Corp.

East New York Posted July 2, 2010 Author Share #682 Posted July 2, 2010 In what year did the NYCTA demo it's first RTS? Note: This bus was subsequently rejected, and GMC was informed not to send another, because the TA was not interested at all.

East New York Posted July 2, 2010 Author Share #684 Posted July 2, 2010 The Model TH-8603 in 1979. Correct! After that, GM built a new bus to MTA specs that was used solely for demo purposes. They were not taking no for an answer, and the rest is history.

MTABusCo Posted July 13, 2010 Share #691 Posted July 13, 2010 Okay, I think I will join the trivia fray. I have some HARD questions that date back to the 1980's and 1990's. Most of it is Queens-related. So without further adoo, here we go with an easy one... GMC-RTS 04 #2201 was the first RTS delivered to NYCT. Name the feature that was unique to only this bus? East New York Posted August 18, 2010 Author Share #700 Posted August 18, 2010 When the very first RTS demo made it's debut in New York City. Other than the interior seating specs, and the front "hoodlum lamps" missing. What was the major exterior difference?
