dmouse Posted August 18, 2010 Share #701 Posted August 18, 2010 When the very first RTS demo made it's debut in New York City. Other than the interior seating specs, and the front "hoodlum lamps" missing. What was the major exterior difference? It had a slope back?

East New York Posted August 18, 2010 Author Share #707 Posted August 18, 2010 Final guess...the rear door. That is correct! The demo had the standard slide-glide doors like the NJT spec RTS. 3 axles? Lol! That was the RTX Transbus styled RTS-3T you're thinking about. It did make a trip to NYC in 1975. It was the predecessor to the RTS-01 Technically that was the first. However, because the bus never made it to production, I don't count that as being the actual first. Not many people know about the 3 axled RTS!

East New York Posted August 22, 2010 Author Share #717 Posted August 22, 2010 In October and November of 1979, which three PBL's took delivery of the first and ONLY 102" wide Detroit Diesel 8V71 powered RTS' that would ever run in revenue service within NYC? Hint: The RTS would become staples of their respective fleets for years to come. One of them should be a given.

BMT was the largest PBL prior to the takeover by NYCTA. BMT was headquartered at what is now the East New York Depot. The Q32 is now the third designation for said route. What were they previously?
