Shortline Bus Posted February 23, 2011 #1 Posted February 23, 2011 And the next mayor of Chicago is? Former Obama Chief of State and Ex-Chicago Congressmen Rahm Emanuel. Emanuel 'handpicked' by Obama, now takes over from Richard Daley who recently passed his Dad as long consutitive time of a Mayor's office of a major American city. PS. I never understood why the citywide elections in Chicago are held in Feb-early March. http://abclocal.go.com/wls/video?id=7974321&pid=7974235
Shortline Bus Posted February 23, 2011 Author #3 Posted February 23, 2011 Daley, Jr. had been in office so long (since I think early 1989)there a generation of kids in the windy city now as old as college age, that have not known any other mayor over there. So a histroic day in Chicago. In this era of political diivide, I am not sure you going to see that many big city mayors staying in office for 20-plus years anynore. Again shifting gears, I know each city/town of America has different laws/date for elections for Mayor but why is a 'regular' schdeuled election Day in Chicago in the middle of Feb.?
