Bracamonte Posted February 24, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 24, 2011 Has anyone noticed that some of the ex-Bee Line Orions front ends looks like a regular MTA Orion front end? #133 is one of them.
SevenEleven Posted February 24, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 24, 2011 133 was involved in an accident and was saved with a nose transplant from another bus:

Fresh Pond Posted February 25, 2011 Share #4 Posted February 25, 2011 I mean it is an Orion V so I find nothing wrong with it It looks like it can pass as an NYCT Orion V lol (until you look at the side of it). I wonder if those emergency lights at the top work

I wonder if those emergency lights at the top work It really does when you view it head on. I doubt the emergency lights work since the buses were spec'd without them. Who knows, the repair crews may have taken the extra step and got it wired in.
hoodciti Posted February 25, 2011 Share #6 Posted February 25, 2011 Beeline should have kept the Orion V's I hate the new ones.... and they're dying in Queens

Fresh Pond Posted February 25, 2011 Share #8 Posted February 25, 2011 That paper model looks sweet  Beeline should have kept the Orion V's I hate the new ones.... and they're dying in Queens Bee Line got rid of them cuz they were getting newe NABIs. Instead of them being retired (like they shouldve been, they're about 14-15 yrd old), the brought them cuz of the shortage we had. They really are dropping like flies, and we just gotta suffer with them until the next new fleet comes in

Baisley Park on the other hand, they are learning from their mistakes to some extent.
T J Trainman Posted February 25, 2011 Share #10 Posted February 25, 2011 Also, LGA doesn't have any parts for them. They are beat to death already. LGA killed 2 of them 119 & 120.

BZGuy Posted February 26, 2011 Share #12 Posted February 26, 2011 Am I the only one that likes the Ex Bee Line Orions?Hell, an Orion 5 is an Orion 5 +1! Honestly I don't think they are bad buses. I wish the MTA had fully painted them and I would given them split them between Eastchester and Casey Stengal and give LGA RTSs outta storage and BP O7 OGs from Stengal. aemoreira81 Posted February 26, 2011 Share #17 Posted February 26, 2011 They should have repainted them from the start. These buses, however, are the quintessential definition of stopgap. The MTA had to replace 19-year old RTS buses that were beyond their last legs.
jimbob60 Posted February 26, 2011 Share #18 Posted February 26, 2011 Does anyone know how many out of the 84 ex-Bee's put into service have been officially scrapped? These buses are '95 models which entered service for MTA bus in late 09?

LRG Posted February 27, 2011 Share #20 Posted February 27, 2011 Am I the only one that likes the Ex Bee Line Orions?Hell, an Orion 5 is an Orion 5 If they weren't treated so bad maybe I would show them some appreciation. I've only rode them once (out of Baisley Park) and the ride was ok. The funny thing is, the Ex-Bee Lines and the WMATA rejects are built better than NYCT's 1998-1999 models (6000-6349), and they had a lot of problems from the beginning. The three-digit 1993-1996 models we have were built better but whatever's left of them, they do need to go, and should be gone by the end of this year, as well as the Ex-Bee Line and WMATA rejects. jimbob60 Posted February 28, 2011 Share #21 Posted February 28, 2011 Two---119 and 120. Thx - seems like a decent performance given the age of the buses. They have been in service for over 15 mths and were more than 14 yrs sold when they entered service yet only 2 of 84 have been scrapped in those 15 mths. I see quite a few on the Q39 and Q69 which operate very close to my place. I have ridden them a few times.

Ride quaity is crap and lousy A/C on the 6000s Orions. I ridden one on ethier the Q30 or 31 and it went over an bad batch of road that caused the lights on the bus to flicker on and off, junk! C40LF was the best bus the TA bought that year, C40LF >>>>> 6000-6349/4900-5249....
