I'm also bummed at how the Mets lost not one, but TWO double-headers in a three day span (to the Rockies, then to Atlanta).

The Mets have a point IMO. I can understand a doubleheader with the Rockies since this is their only trip to Citifield in 2011. However with the Braves they could have played a doubleheader later in the season. I am sure the crowds would been much bigger in Atlanta.

This all goes back to MLB starting the season on April 1 though.

Justin Turner is awful, this guy isn't going to be around for too long.

The guy is a career minor leaguer at 26, oh and Bay comes back tomorrow

big deal, did you see Hairston drop the line drive last night?

I have to laugh, LOL.

Collins and Murphy Dugout Exchange (after failed steal)

Record columnist Bob Klapisch looks at how Collins is handling the losing. Klapisch gives more detail on the animated tunnel conversation off the dugout at Turner Field after Murphy was thrown out trying to steal third base. Writes Klapisch:

Terry Collins watched in quiet rage as Murphy was thrown out -- waiting while his player collected himself and returned to the dugout -- before exploding.

“What the [bleep] are you doing?” Collins shouted, according to a person who’d been made aware of the exchange.

“Mike [Nickeas] was up, [Mike] Pelf[rey] was on deck; I was trying to get something started,” Murphy responded.

“So now you’re the manager? I was going to pinch-hit [for Pelfrey],” Collins shot back. “I’m the manager, not you. Get your head out of your [bleep].”

Thank God for the Knicks. That is all I have to say about the Mets. Also, Go Irving Picard!

Andrew the Mets are not the only family-owned MLB club in huge trouble.

This afternoon 4/20/11, Bud Selig has taken over power in running the LA Dodgers. Looks like Real Estate Mogul /Businessman Frank McCourt's tenure as Dodgers Owner might be over. McCourt only brought the club about 6 years ago from Fox-TV/Media Mogul Rupert Mudrock.

So not '1' but two histroic and landmark baseball clubs both internationally known are now or will be for sale for at $1 Billion. I am sure the NY Mets will be added to this list very soon. Any biders?

And meanwhile two somewhat decent teams in the A's and Rays are without a long term home and a decent fanbase. 4 teams total in trouble. and all the more why there needs to be a contraction.

Thus another reason I dislike Selig. I know he a puppet of the Owners but still he has done a lousy job in picking owners in last decade. While John Henry has done a great job in Boston winning '2' world series, he lets a clown like Frank McCourt buy the Dodgers from Rupert Mudrock and FOX-TV without doing a better background check.

Just read papers out there like the LA Times and McCourt according to rumors is already planning to sue Selig for 'illegal takeover' of team. Well McCourt you and your wife used profits from the team for everything to paying hookers and lavish lifestyle. Even Joe Torre left for that reason.

Get out Frank McCourt. You even make the Wilpons and Peter Angelos look like genuises.

Realistically, who would've expected he and his wife would've used the dodgers in their divorce/tug of war? I blame Selig for over expanding in 98. What he should've done was move the A's to Arizona and the Marlins to DC and later the Expos to tampa.

I agree Concourse. However Selig still an owner of the Brewers in '98 as well as MLB Boss, got a share of I think $500 Million in expansion fees when the D'backs and Rays joined then. MLB should have relocated struggling teams first.

The Marlins are out for a while as Miami is buliding a new ballpark for them which is planned to open next season. Struggling teams like the Marlins, Pirates and Indians must have a team in their ballparks bulit in last 15 years and stay there for next 30 years. Or else MLB must pay those cities at least $500 Million bucks or the market value of team which ever is higher.

Why can't Selig bail us out? Jesus Christ when will this pain end?

Great question. I guess a double standard as Selig and the Wilpons are 'close friends' going back to day Selig was Owner of the Brewers. Bud if he had his way wants Fred and Jeff to stay as Mets Owners. However if things gets worse it might happen.

Meanwhile McCourt has been an a@@H@le.

Terry Collins got thrown out over a meaningless argument in the 1st inning

of last nights game, even the umpire was calm, Earl Weaver who managed

the Orioles in the 80's was a short guy with a short fuse, he stood up to anybody. He was one of the most entertaining managers to watch in an argument.

Speaking of Earl Weaver lets go to the videotape. Here he is at his best circa 1981/'82.B) Oh yes I wish I could go back in time to the 80's a great time to be a MLB fan.

Hold on 1 second. The Selig vs McCourt battle has just begun. McCourt says he plans to sue MLB for 'illegal takeover' of his team. Meanwhile Dodger fan are smiling as this team ticket sales has dropped by as much as 25% in last few years since their run to the 2009 NLCS.

Gods, that guy is such an ingrate. He should take the money and split it with the wife. Leave the Dodgers out of it. MLB should counter sue him for tarnishing the dodgers brand/reputation.

Not to mention screwing up in their lack of security on Opening night 2011 when Giant fan Brain Stow was beaten.

Also McCourt's chances of winning are very slim since he had to sign an agreement that all Owners or CEO's must agree to the commish's decisions and thus Selig's decision are final. The only shot IMO McCourt can win a suit is that Selig did not also as of yet take over the Mets. Still Mr and Mrs McCourt's days as Dodgers Owners are more than likely done. Not to mention McCourt taking profits from the Dodgers to pay for strip clubs? In real world, you can go to jail for that. Plus the IRS is on verge of indicting McCourt for tax fraud.

Still reading the LA papers online last couple of days and already dozens of people have express intrest in buying the team. Everyone from Magic Johnson, Steve Garvey, Mark Cuban, Lakers Owner Jerry Buss and others for the team expected to be brought for at least $1 Billion.

FYI. With all of the media coverage it has gotten I won't be suprised the McCourts get their own 'reality' tv show. They make the diva ladies on the "Housewives' series seem nice like elmo.:(

Not meant to sound like Forest Glen but I got to say this. Rafael Soriano has been terrible as the '8th inning' specialist/Co-Closer to Rivera this season. Last night 4/26/11 he blows a great start by CC and Yanks lose a game to the Chisox.

With Hughes hurt, Soriano better improve as the Yanks really need him. Maybe the spotlight on NYC is getting to him but so far he been a huge disappointment. I know it's still early in the season, but he someone you have to worry about if you a Yankees fan.

In other MLB news, the Oakland Coliseum briefly known for few years last decade circa 1998-2002 as Network Associates Coliesum has been renamed again.

Check this out guys "Overstock.com Coliseum at Oakland." No joke.

The stadium home to both the A's and NFL Raiders since 1967-'68, is the last stadium in America that is the home to both a MLB and NFL club at same time.

Here link. http://bats.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/0...er=rss&emc=rss

IMO I don't see the point as both the Raiders and A's maybe both be gone within 3-5 years from that aging stadium.

SNY is still off dish

if I don't have it by the end of next month, I wrighting a long email.

If I don't have it by end of june, i'm calling someone and using a lot of four letter words.

If I don't have it again at all this year, I'm suing.

Sorry to hear that. Heard about it on Mike Francesa show recently. Matter of fact, Direct TV nearly pulled the plug on both SNY and YES right before start of season; then they got hooked up to a new deal.

Not sure my friend if you are in contract but if you can maybe dump Dish for say FIOS or Direct TV. There rumors Dish is for sell and might be brought by Direct TV.

Another example of the cable tv customer being screwed by zillion dollar companies.:tdown:

I took a new 2 year contract in january.

And I can't get FIOS. They don't serve Ridgewood.

We've had dish longer now, I think, than we had cable.

If in you in middle of contract, then I would speak to Dish folks about getting out of the contract since they are not carrying SNY.

Then consider a lawsuit to try to get out of the contract via small claims court. Other option is 1)Sign up for MLB.COM (sadly they black out games on SNY involving Mets for those online in Metro NYC area I think) 2)Just watch the games on 'free tv' when they are on either Fox/Ch.5 or WPIX. At least Ch.11 shows Mets 1-2x a week while Ch.9 shows a handful of games for the Yanks.

Just my advice for now.
