Good catch. They must be having a dispute in the fonts dept :P

 

IINM, 948 is still dual font as well.

I wish Amtrak would go back to Phase 3 or at least some other design for these locomotives. The present Phase V simply does not wear well, looking like they are going to a funeral or something.

The amtrak larger blockier more square numbers are original style, while the smaller numbers are the newer type. Some of the shops i guess still have the older type on hand or they just repaint the original pieces.

 

:septa: really does not cosmetically maintain their locomotives very well, and they are not used most of the time, only peak hours on specific trains typically. The single ALP-44 they have is in pretty sorry shape. One of the reasons for the cosmetic issues with their units is the nature of the routes they run on, lots of trees and lots of bridges, large number of opportunities for something to fall and be hit by any part of the exterior, especially the nose and the pantograph.
