Another S78 story, I'm on the S78 and at Hylan/Parkinson a HS kid tried to get in through the back door. When the back door didn't open he tried to get on through the front but the B/O closed the door on his face. Probably saw him trying to farebeat.

A bus crashed on Richmond Ave. Looks like 8303.

Here's an article: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.silive.com/news/2019/04/crash-reported-on-richmond-avenue-in-eltingville-during-wednesday-am-rush-hour.html%3foutputType=amp

Seems like an S59 crashed into a speeding car.

Other way around. A speeding car crashed into an S59.

Definitely 8303. Slow the clip a little and you will see that it is definitely that bus.

So much for the old "wear clean drawers" admonishment of most mothers. Bit worse if going commando.

LIFE LESSON LEARNED: You'll always lose if you mess with a bus.

And the bus is practically unscathed, while GEICO (if they actually were insured) has to deal with the mess (including in that driver's seat).

Random thought of the day:  It’s good to see the Brooklyn Division- FB, ENY, GA, UP, JG and FP incorporating exterior roof ads on their Local buses. Hopefully, driverside wraps could be next.

UP especially since they are an express bus depot it would be nice to sneak one of those wraps on a local bus. When the 93xx buses were decommissioned to local back in the day it was always good to see a 30x244 billboard on a local bus in UP.

Was on a S78 and there was alot of traffic along Hylan and the B/O was saying stuff like "chop chop let's go" to the traffic but he was also talking through the loudspeaker and we all were laughing so hard 😂

We used to have an op on the B16 school trippers who would do stuff like that to keep us kids entertained and he would have us rolling in laughter

Didn't @Via Garibaldi 8 say something about looking into the situation.

Yes I did. I had a emergency conference call about it the other day expressing my frustration with the lack of communication, and relayed the fact that many express bus customers are upset about it, as this is only being implemented on express buses, not local buses.  I was told that the board voted on it when they voted to increase the fare.  It's a little too late now to stop it, but we do plan on speaking before the board next month. Unfortunately the day I had the conference call I was told that the board was meeting the next day (they scheduled the monthly board meetings earlier this month likely because of the holidays - Passover, Good Friday, etc.) and by then I already had other plans, as I have meetings for work that I need to prepare for.

What I have done however is reached out to former Councilman James Vacca via e-mail.  He was in the Transit Round Table Meeting with us in early April and has been a big advocate for express bus service and is a rider as well. He got back to me last night and is looking to see how he can assist us in perhaps having the (MTA) reconsider this policy in the future.  We will keep you posted.

What we asked for in the conference call was for the (MTA) to delay implementation until OMNY is fully available Citywide, as this will negatively impact seniors and people that live in transportation deserts that don't live near subways, or have to deal with broken vending machines and stores selling out of Metrocards, as well as people who use TransitChek or Wage Works which forces them to refill at a subway station or Metrocard vending machines only, as they are given transit cards for their Metrocards.  They responded by saying that only 1% of express bus riders use coins and suggested that people sign up for EasyPay, which automatically deducts money from peoples' debit or credit cards, something many riders DON'T like, myself included. I don't use anything automated, so that's why I have never signed up for that and never will.  I don't need to be double or triple billed or have my card info stolen. No thanks.  The (MTA) can't even run bus service, so people don't feel comfortable giving them their information to refill automatically.

The latest is that the policy WILL take effect THIS SUNDAY, April 21st.  We've posted it about everything in the group. We will post here in the Express Bus Advocacy Group thread with all updates.

The holiday schedule today was drawn up better than last year’s Good Friday holiday schedule.

It ain’t perfect but the wait times are better than last year (the load factor is still 125%+, but the (MTA) will take that as a win as they’re meeting guideline goals.)

April Fool's joke, and a late one at that...

Never knew that the SI limiteds weren't running today (save the S89 and S93). Or did I just miss something?

Only saw express bus schedules, not local buses.

There is fine print in page 1 of every local bus schedule which typically reads either “special schedule” or “reduced weekday schedule is in effect on” and the Friday before Easter is always listed, along with Columbus Day, MLK Day, President’s Day, July 3rd, and the days before and after Thanksgiving.

It doesn't matter how much XD40s UP gets the B6 still run like s***😬 right now at 11:30 pm there are four buses at Ashford and Livonia smfh...

You could blame all that construction with the Department of Environmental Protection and contractors installing pipes all over East New York and Canarsie. So buses on that side will continue to run like hell.
