BM5 via Woodhaven Posted July 15, 2014 Share #12651 Posted July 15, 2014 I'm going into the city in a while. I want to take the 6:23 PM QM15 into the city, but given how there's 2+ hour delays on the route, I might opt to take the 7:07 PM Q67.
GojiMet86 Posted July 15, 2014 Share #12652 Posted July 15, 2014 Something interesting over at BusTalk: http://bustalk.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4276 Apparently there used to be a QN-12 that was operated by Queens/Steinway Transit that ran from Astoria to Jones Beach.
trainfan22 Posted July 15, 2014 Share #12653 Posted July 15, 2014 Wow thats so weird most of the drivers I get on the BM3 are not like that some of thwm are too much by the book, like when I was the only passenger and the guy wouldn't go through belt pkwy ( I needed Bedford) but I don't blame him for that. I have never noticed SC drivers to pull that kind of shit, maybe I have not been riding long enough I only started riding last yearMaybe the driver wasn't sure if Transit buses was allowed on the Belt Parkway. Keep in mind only a portion of the Belt allows buses, Driver might not have known which portion buses are banned from.
NYSubwayBuff Posted July 15, 2014 Share #12654 Posted July 15, 2014 Ik that the thing is buses use the portion from the city to Knapp st to deadhead to/from the BM3 and BM4 all the time
BM5 via Woodhaven Posted July 16, 2014 Share #12655 Posted July 16, 2014 (edited) I was on 2725 (on the X10). A taxi appearently "scraped" the bus and broke off part of the mirror (the taxi itself broke its own mirror). Gonna have to wait for the next one (its only half an hour). MTA Bus Posted July 17, 2014 Share #12658 Posted July 17, 2014 In a surprising twist, 1237 was on the M60 SBS (and yes, the sign was working. It was grey today).

B35 via Church Posted July 19, 2014 Share #12662 Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) LOL... Those Spring Creek drivers are a trip... Some of them do it on weekends too... Yup.... been on quite a few of em (where they've done it on weekends) myself.... Usually BM1's & BM3's for some odd reason..... Well, ain't that interesting. With the exception of the QM8, you can't do a super express run like that in Queens, nor in the Bronx. If I was someone in that position, after the 20 minute late mark, I would just call in, unless I know there's major delays. That b/o on that BM1 that night gave no fux about the lower manhattan riders... Even if there wasn't anyone waiting at any of the stops for a BM1, that's not their job to try to figure out & actually act upon in their assumption of sorts...... Let the MTA/DOT/whoever come out with some type of app or whatever, where b/o's can see ahead of time if anyone's waiting at a stop they haven't come across as of yet (camera's installed at every stop, IDK, however it would be done).... Guaranteed you will have some ops. abusing the hell out of that.... LOL... I most certainly did just that one Saturday when this BM3 driver was playing games. I was asking a gazillion questions about that bus and the person on the phone at Spring Creek sure as hell knew that I knew that some BS was going on. She was like oh well the BM's are on detour, so I told her well if that's the case then all of the BM's coming down 5th should be late, but so far all of them have been on time and have passed save the BM3 so what gives? I then mentioned how the bus was on BusTime and then suddenly "disappeared" so something fishy was going on and that I was going to report it. The old "detour" excuse huh.... Wow thats so weird most of the drivers I get on the BM3 are not like that some of thwm are too much by the book, like when I was the only passenger and the guy wouldn't go through belt pkwy ( I needed Bedford) but I don't blame him for that. I have never noticed SC drivers to pull that kind of shit, maybe I have not been riding long enough I only started riding last year It wasn't always this bad with as many SC drivers.... I find that the amount of occurrences (listening to ppl's stories on the actual buses, having experienced some of it myself, & reading posts on the forums here) of such antics increased when trips were getting slashed on the expresses..... I was on 2725 (on the X10). A taxi appearently "scraped" the bus and broke off part of the mirror (the taxi itself broke its own mirror). Gonna have to wait for the next one (its only half an hour). You talkin about the driver side mirror? Hold on, how big was this taxi..... Edited July 19, 2014 by B35 via Church
BM5 via Woodhaven Posted July 19, 2014 Share #12663 Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) You talkin about the driver side mirror? Hold on, how big was this taxi..... No, the taxi broke the mirror when it impacted. Seemed like it was trying to cut off the bus to drop off a passenger, but didn't judge correctly the distance and speed of the bus behind it, and couldn't stop in time to not hit the bus at all. It left a dent on one of the compartment doors (underneath), that's about it. I guess since just the compartment door was dented (and not so big), they made the driver go back to the depot with it, instead of sending a tow from the depot. Tyheem Posted July 20, 2014 Share #12671 Posted July 20, 2014 I'm not sure if this is the correct thread but can someone answer my question? After you compete training and qualify for the job, will you be able to choose ANY depot you want to work out of ? Or is there a certain few available at a certain time because I would really like to go to college depot once I join the MTA

Via Garibaldi 8 Posted July 21, 2014 Share #12675 Posted July 21, 2014 (edited) Yukon and Charlestons B/Os deserve new buses. LOL... Is that a serious comment? They've both received a decent amount of new buses and more are set to be coming in... The problem if anything may be maintenance at both depots... And let's not forget how disgusting Staten Island bus riders are... Leaving gum, food, Metrocards and anything else they feel like leaving on the bus... Staten Island express buses have to be the worst... Not all of the lines are bad, but the X10 is probably the worst out of all of them. On the same hand, many Bus express buses are far older and are in pristine condition. Edited July 21, 2014 by Via Garibaldi 8
