Cait Sith Posted March 6, 2016 Share #17326 Posted March 6, 2016 chances are they will take the X31 AM route to go to and from the city But something will need to be done about the X1, X10, and X17 going on 6th ave during PM rush the Holland Tunnel will be beyond f****** and it will definitely overflow to 6th ave. 6th Avenue won't get hit hard. But the side streets will, especially Broome Street, which intersects with a lot of the major streets. Canal Street will also get it hard.

I mean 6th ave already get pretty bad during PM rush around Canal, sometimes I end up having to sit there for half an hour just to get by

Around the Horn Posted March 8, 2016 Share #17329 Posted March 8, 2016 Take a look at new MTA bus design. Cuomo called them "European" and "Ferrari-like." The new buses will have digital info boards with stops & transfer info. Order starts in Queens with 75 this year. According to Second Avenue Sagas twitter page, this is the MTA's new paint scheme... I haven't seen anything on the SAS website yet... (Maybe this is why 5364 hasn't been seen in weeks?)

B22viaAtlanticAv Posted March 8, 2016 Share #17332 Posted March 8, 2016 I would like to see a rendering of the Nova LFSA in this "NEW" scheme to compare the two...
S78 via Hylan Posted March 9, 2016 Share #17333 Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) I rode 2913 on the X22 to Staten Island earlier this evening. It felt good riding an old MCI as they are being put down very quickly. Edited March 9, 2016 by S78 via Hylan
Future ENY OP Posted March 9, 2016 Share #17334 Posted March 9, 2016 Boarded a B46 local earlier this evening. Said update was about the upcoming B46SBS via FB driver. Although there is no set date for service to start. However, I've spotted some FB buses with no rear ads. Primarily the NG's, and few RTS. Unless the is going back to wrapping rear ads. Update via FB driver: Machines will be installed, bulb lighting and stop clocks will be along the B46SBS. EAGLE TEAM will periodically be on buses checking tickets. (Just hope the team which stops to target) and as of right now it will be standard fleet. No artics yet for B46.
IAlam Posted March 9, 2016 Share #17335 Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) I would like to see a rendering of the Nova LFSA in this "NEW" scheme to compare the two... I'm surprised that they choose an XD60 over the LFSA probably cause of the current order when we get our next batch of LFSA then we can hopefully see what it will look like consider we already have the demo it won't be too long Edited March 9, 2016 by IAlam

Trainmaster5 Posted March 12, 2016 Share #17339 Posted March 12, 2016 (edited) Is BusTime acting wonky for you guys? Noticed a service advisory about Brooklyn buses and it seems that routes like the B41 or the B46 have one or no buses operating at this time. These routes aren't even located in the affected area of the advisory. Edited March 12, 2016 by Trainmaster5
checkmatechamp13 Posted March 12, 2016 Share #17340 Posted March 12, 2016 Yeah, I was in Lower Manhattan at a stop served by the X8/14/15, and it said none of the SI buses were en-route, and neither were any M15s (even though there were 2 about a block away)
Around the Horn Posted March 12, 2016 Share #17341 Posted March 12, 2016 So I started a drawing of one of the 4900 series RTS 's in the new scheme and I gotta say it's pretty ugly... This new scheme was clearly not designed for high floor buses...
Metro CSW Posted March 12, 2016 Share #17342 Posted March 12, 2016 Funny, tonight while I waiting for the B15 and searching for upcoming bus on the MTA Tracker+, 8121 was the only active GPS.... just pointing that out there.
DetSMART45 Posted March 13, 2016 Share #17343 Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) Alright, since it's been a little slow in these parts, how about some storytime with a positive outcome? Could be a bit long, but why not for a weekend post: Was going out busfanning Friday afternoon pre-PM Peak, to try to get you guys some pics from my neck of the woods. Ended up noticing I left the camera at home right when first bus was coming, so with 60 minute headways, decided to skip it and go out anyways as it was a nice spring day (for winter). Suburban SMART bus, nothing special. Got to transfer point for DDOT, and my Grand River bus turns up at the layover point. Surprise of surprises, can see operator inside the bus (a spankin' Xcelsior hybrid 40) with a spray bottle cleaning inside and did a double take -- sure enough, put the bottle on the farebox multiple times and had rag/towel in hand. (EDIT: You could smell the cleaner and see how clean stuff was when getting on.) Next an artic signed up as a Grand River pulls up on the opposite curb of the street, operator gets out, goes to first bus and jaws with operator while he's still cleaning. Finally, he pulls up to official boarding place, we get on, start down the road. This guy is a bit of a character, and told everyone that the artic was supposed to be before him, but its fire suppression system alarm kept going off, and can't be going down the road when all of a sudden a bunch of foam comes out -- his subtle way of saying we'd have a full house. Sure enough, got about 2 miles down the road, we start packing up. Around another 1/2 mile, he stops and a nice older lady gets on with three others. She's not frail enough to need a walker or cane, just a bit slow, but sharp as a tack. She's carrying two bags of shopping, and making her way to the front seats behind the driver -- 3 of 4 already seated. Lady in seat 3 reaches out and takes her shopping and guy in seat 1 grabs her hand to steady her while sitting down -- unasked. First WOW moment of this trip. We're going along, and we get to full crush load. All seats taken, standees solid in the aisle front to back. Let a couple off, more pile on. Everyone is well behaved, no bitching, letting others pass as best they could out the back door and through the aisle. Sidenote: DDOT does not have a "Next Bus Please" program -- which I wish we had, at that point. So we make it closer to Downtown Detroit, and an older lady and her noticeably disabled husband come to their stop, while we're still packed. Bus was quiet, she's saying her "excuse me"s, and people were letting him and her by, as best as can be done going out the front. She says "Everyone have a blessed afternoon" as a sort-of offhand remark, and nearly the whole bus said "You too". WOW number two. We get going again and first older lady (2nd seat behind driver) gets to her stop. She says, "Operator, coming out" a few times. Lady next to her holds her bags while she gets up from the seat, guy next to her helps her up as well. The customers starts a "chain" with people in the aisle with her bags, passing them up to first person closest to door while this older lady comes through, and first guy takes her bags out the door, waits for her at the step, holds her hand while she gets out, and gives them to her once she's stable. Bus operator thanked everyone, and she did the same on her way out. Once again -- unasked. WOW number three. In all my years on our suburban SMART system, I've never seen these things happen. Some people even ignore the possibility of moving if sitting in the front seats for people who may look like they need them (a good 75% of my recent DDOT trips have involved someone sitting there, noticing someone boarding, and just getting up and offering the seat). Even in seating at a terminal, on DDOT most people just automatically sit against the window because of whatever load awaits; whereas on SMART (even with a bunch of people who actually use DDOT) they just automatically board and sit on the aisle, even giving dirty looks if the bus starts filling and they'd have to move over. I've been away from DDOT for many years, and with the Detroit bankruptcy, previous crime and irritation because buses never showed up/ran whenever, I was expecting the worst. But things are mighty different -- even better than our suburban system. Totally floored me, but restored my confidence that Detroit residents look out for each other. If anyone else has similar stories, why not share them. Edited March 13, 2016 by DetSMART45

MysteriousBtrain Posted March 13, 2016 Share #17345 Posted March 13, 2016 ^What!? Anyone know the best places to fan on the Q10? (I'm asking for obvious reasons ) When I try to get the Q10, I'm usually at either Kew Gardens or Liberty Av. If possible, I would try JFK airport as well.
LegoBrickBreaker101 Posted March 13, 2016 Share #17346 Posted March 13, 2016 ^What!? Anyone know the best places to fan on the Q10? (I'm asking for obvious reasons ) I usually just walk the whole line (or at least from Queens Blvd to Rockaway Blvd as it's only 3 miles). I'd say the Queens Blvd to Rockaway is pretty good if you're waiting for it, but the best places are probably Kew Gardens, Metropolitan Ave, Jamaica Ave, Atlantic Avenue, and Rockaway Ave. JFK's pretty good to, you might wanna look out for any a**hole-type security folks if you decide to fan there...

(I'm asking for obvious reasons ) Take the road less traveled, go for the areas that weren't already covered...like Kew Gardens lol ...I usually go along the local line around the backdoor entrance to JFK for photos, no one goes out there.

Future ENY OP Posted March 13, 2016 Share #17350 Posted March 13, 2016 Why was that B46 SBS service thread locked? I was curious to see how B46 SBS would work out. There hasn't been a formal announcement yet in regards to service. April pick hasn't been announced yet. Although it won't be announced here. However, just wait for related material in regards to service. Plus, FB has artics only for the B44. B46 has over 100 runs
