LegoBrickBreaker101 Posted January 9, 2017 Share #19526 Posted January 9, 2017 I'm interested in seeing if the absorption of the Bx41 SBS by GH will have any impact on the Bx12 operation. It's pretty normal on the Bx12 SBS at this point, but there's 20 buses heading to Inwood and only 7 going to Bay Plaza (and 9 of those buses going to Inwood are somehow all bunched together...)
IAlam Posted January 9, 2017 Share #19527 Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) The Queens Midtown Tunnel will change to Cashless Toll collection starting at 3 a.m. on January 10, 2017. Tolls will be processed electronically, all vehicles should proceed through the toll plaza without stopping. Please make sure your E-ZPass is mounted to your windshield. To get mounting supplies or to get E-ZPass and save 30% to 50% on MTA tolls, please visit www.ezpassny.com So apparently the MTA made the Queens Midtown Tunnel cashless. Is this the reason why they had the weekend construction? Edited January 9, 2017 by IAlam
trainfan22 Posted January 10, 2017 Share #19528 Posted January 10, 2017 What happens to the Toll Booth workers, they get laid off?

Is this the reason why they had the weekend construction? Weekend construction is Sandy related, installing the gantries was probably just piggybacking. Interestingly enough, the new gantries are on the manhattan side. Took an express bus thru the bus lane this morning and saw the new setup

Hopefully they remove the tool plaza and then everything will follow more smoothly. Edited January 10, 2017 by IAlam

There's no loss of jobs, the toll booth collectors are all TBTA cops. (At least at the Brooklyn Battery).

There's usually a cruiser on the Manhattan side of the tunnel, and on the queens side is by Hunters Point Avenue exit.
checkmatechamp13 Posted January 10, 2017 Share #19534 Posted January 10, 2017 Checking periodically on the M55 on BusTime, it did alright in the AM rush. Most buses were a few minutes late, but there weren't any large gaps in service.

Is that possible on all NG's or just a few.

It could be "SBS capable" vehicle or there is another method (forgot what it is though).

It's labeled as either "touch tape bypass" or "SBS Mode" depending on the bus. You enable that and the back doors open automatically any time you open the back door. Cait Sith Posted January 11, 2017 Share #19539 Posted January 11, 2017 I noticed there were a bunch of 40fters on articulated routes overnight, including on the Manhattan Select Bus routes. I wonder what the deal was.
MysteriousBtrain Posted January 11, 2017 Share #19540 Posted January 11, 2017 5439 is now trackable and I just saw it on the Bx2. Perhaps it's doing a 90 day test on the concourse routes.

The bus already saw service on the Bx1, Bx9 and Bx39 (mostly on this particular route) over the past few days and it was traceable the whole time.

Maybe buses are to come sooner than expected then, but we'll see.
checkmatechamp13 Posted January 12, 2017 Share #19543 Posted January 12, 2017 I just realized: They increased the frequency of the Bx10 overnight. Instead of one bus running back and forth every 60-65 minutes (and struggling to stay on schedule), there's two buses running every 40 minutes.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted January 12, 2017 Share #19544 Posted January 12, 2017 I just realized: They increased the frequency of the Bx10 overnight. Instead of one bus running back and forth every 60-65 minutes (and struggling to stay on schedule), there's two buses running every 40 minutes. Yeah which makes sense because people coming from the train would be forced to wait an hour if they miss that bus which is ridiculous. They could still do more with the Bx10 since it serves all of Riverdale save Riverdale Avenue in Central Riverdale. We need more short turns running from 231st to Riverdale.
Future ENY OP Posted January 12, 2017 Share #19545 Posted January 12, 2017 Strangely 4383 is parked at 180 Livingston. Unless that's a Flatbush unit coming in from Kingsbridge. There's KB decals.

BM5 via Woodhaven Posted January 13, 2017 Share #19549 Posted January 13, 2017 So NYCDOT added a "Drop Off Only" sign on the stop at Queens Boulevard & Woodhaven Boulevard in green color (for express buses). Is there something that is going on that I'm not aware of? The only thing I can think of is the QM10/QM12 and its variants (except the QM11), and the QM18 being rerouted via Queens Boulevard instead of via the LIE.

Honestly I never understood why the peak buses took the LIE over the off peak buses. Yes it take about the same time during rush but at times like 10AM and 10PM you know the LIE is faster.
