Calvin Posted July 20, 2017 Share #21226 Posted July 20, 2017 The 1200 LFSAs that I saw in the Bronx and SBS M15: the only change on those buses are the seats
R143 8277 Posted July 20, 2017 Share #21227 Posted July 20, 2017 The other day I saw a 40 foot LFS on the south-bound Van Wyck Expressway. It was being used for training. Why are drivers being trained on the Van Wyck Expressway?

NewFlyer 230 Posted July 20, 2017 Share #21230 Posted July 20, 2017 I saw 5423 on the Q64 today. BP must be short on Orion VII's at the moment.
BronxBombers Posted July 21, 2017 Share #21231 Posted July 21, 2017 Honestly I can't for the Bx6 to get SBS. That courthouse traffic is horrible in the mornings. Today it took 13 minutes to get from Yankee Stadium to Sheridan Avenue (1 stop away mind you). It usually happens but since they are making the eastbound tunnel bus only, maybe it will speed up travel time in the mornings.

LegoBrickBreaker101 Posted July 21, 2017 Share #21234 Posted July 21, 2017 What is "SELECT BUS WHITESTONE" on the Q44 lol It's a short turn. Instead of going all the way up to the Bronx, those "Whitestone" runs end at the stop before the Whitestone bridge.

MikeC Posted July 22, 2017 Share #21239 Posted July 22, 2017 I saw a couple RTS being stored at CS the other day anyone know what they're being stored for? What depot are they from? Some depots don't need as many buses during the summer cause there's no school trippers. I remember Jamaica sent some of it's RTS to Stengel either last summer or the one before that. Jamaica's a pretty small depot, making some room.

MassTransitHonchkrow Posted July 22, 2017 Share #21241 Posted July 22, 2017 Do you think buses should be committed more to highways and boulevards and less to one-way roads and smaller avenues (as long as walking distance is not more than a half mile)? I'm asking because buses have HOV permits and I feel they're underutilized. I also feel it'd help with congestion and help buses avoid snarls and intersections where pedestrian-related fatalities occur.
MysteriousBtrain Posted July 22, 2017 Share #21242 Posted July 22, 2017 Does 6001 have different signage than the other XD60s? Looks like it uses something that is not Hanover.

contor Posted July 22, 2017 Share #21246 Posted July 22, 2017 Would anyone happen to know why 4896 was near Quill earlier? I saw it going up 12th Avenue around 4:30 It was probably on the shuttle (think the 1 or 3 shuttle) and the driver stopped there to use the bathroom, heading back to UP.
BronxBombers Posted July 23, 2017 Share #21247 Posted July 23, 2017 Was a date released yet? No date has been released yet. But there are SBS fare machines installed already along 163rd and they are creating the bus island stop at Sheridan Avenue.
Calvin Posted July 23, 2017 Share #21248 Posted July 23, 2017 If an express bus is full, can passengers still board the bus or wait for another one to arrive?
aemoreira81 Posted July 23, 2017 Share #21249 Posted July 23, 2017 Operation-wise...for subway shuttles, why doesn't the MTA maintain a yard full of "hot spares" retired from active service that can be pressed into service as shuttles at one central location and have drivers volunteering to work a shuttle report to that yard and pick up a bus (or relieve another driver from that pool of buses)? Approximately 200 or so buses could be maintained this way.
BM5 via Woodhaven Posted July 23, 2017 Share #21250 Posted July 23, 2017 If an express bus is full, can passengers still board the bus or wait for another one to arrive? Traditionally, the rule is that unless it's the last bus of the day, you have to wait for the next one. However, that is not always followed.
