LRG Posted April 1, 2011 Share #126 Posted April 1, 2011 Castleton Depot now has the highest MDBF out of Regional Bus and it's true, the buses are very clean and well-maintained. Lol.

gtNovaBusRTS9369 Posted April 1, 2011 Share #136 Posted April 1, 2011 Yeah I don't Live Near Fresh Pond, But That Makes Sense, But when the last bacth of buses come in for QV, I wonder if they will replace half of their OG's, I Know Queens Village They Love Their RTS, But time will only tell I been wondering too what role will the LFS play when they come in to QV. Since the 96' RTS are going I thought that the LFS would replace them but then again 30 LFS replacing 60-70 older RTS'es doesn't really even it out too much. They do use a lot of buses especially on routes such as the (Q27) & (Q46). But yes let's see how it'll affect them.

AlexLy Posted April 1, 2011 Share #138 Posted April 1, 2011 What errors on the structure? There are two hatches on the passenger side rear panel. See here: http://ttmg.org/photos/tlogan/NYCB_Nova_8001.jpg There is only one hatch on the driver's side, but right under the rear panel. See here: http://ttmg.org/photos/ozamora/NYCB_Nova_8013b.jpg And for an example of a full LFS, not necessarily in MTA specs, see here: I'm only referring to the hatches' location. Via Garibaldi 8 Posted April 2, 2011 Share #141 Posted April 2, 2011 They're definitely more aesthetically pleasing than the NG's, but the seating arrangement (particularly in the upper level) will exacerbate crowding. What is up with the seats in the back?? So you'll sit down and basically be staring someone right in the face... Leg room looks horrible back there and you think crowding is bad now... No one will be standing in the back because there is nowhere to stand! Good thing the aisle looks a little wider in the front...

Parts would be much easier if they needed just 1-2 types than 3-4 types. I do hope that this list isn't set in stone.

The point is to test all three models in the same exact conditions, so it makes sense to have all three models in the same depot. Down the road when the testing is complete though, the MTA could choose to rationalize the fleets.

Good thing the aisle looks a little wider in the front... Because of the wheelbase in the rear section, thats the only way they could've fit those seats. I think the idea was to have more standing room in the front, well knowing that no one stands in the rear sections. It's a pretty smart idea.
