SevenEleven Posted April 26, 2011 Share #7 Posted April 26, 2011 The solid theory that's out there is that one of the debug custom firmwares out there for the PS3 caused Sony to flip the switch as it allowed users to download stuff off the PS Store for free. The custom firmware also allows users to play on the development servers of the PSN. Pretty much, Sony had to rebuild the authentication process of the PSN for consoles to prevent this kind of thing. It was also mentioned that the rest of the world was supposed to be going today. Personally, I haven't been affected much by it. Although I do have both consoles, I hardly play them... Called "copyright" and butthurt media executives are either forcing people to watch extremely shortened versions of their shows (with different sound, in some cases) on their channel or going the VEVO route. I did manage to snag a few episodes of South Park and Robot Chicken when just those three guys owned it. Those were the days. Where is your "hurr its betar bc its free" logic now, PS3 users? The thing is, they don't know when its going to be back up again. Seriously though, its not that big of a deal. You dont take your anger out on everyone else who wants to play the game because you got killed. That's what the combat training mode in the game is for. It's to help you get better. Thats just a story similar to what happened on a south park episode about the world of warcraft What really went down was a criminal hacking syndicate hacked into Play Stations database servers where everyones personal info is stored. User names, Passwords, Addresses, Credit Cards..All of the info in one place now is theirs and they will sell the info for alot of $$$ while its still good. Hope alot of people dont re-use the same passwords for important sites...Everyone who had an account will need to get new debit / credit cards issued and change passwords. Not like it can't happen to XBox either, but now I'm glad I decided to get the XBox over the PS3. lol. But other than the once in a while updates I download, I hardly use the online component of the machine. I just play without the internet connection.
