Mistro Posted May 14, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 14, 2011 I like the old tiles better. They seem to be of better quality. I see new tiles falling off here and there too. I just wonder who is in charge of quality control with all these renovations. In some stations like Nevins street in Brooklyn, the new tiles just seems slapped on top of the older walls and do not seem to blend with the station. Some sections look like they were pre-built giving the station a cheap look. In fact I kind of hope some stations are left alone that weren't touched yet. Bergen Street and Borough Hall for example. They are a little dirty but have character and every tile is still in place and have a glass like shine. Just wanted to get that off my chest. What are your thoughts? Queens Surface Posted May 14, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 14, 2011 Well what I noticed in all the station renovations the new tile is just put over the old tile, in which they fall off much quicker than the old tile that was there for who knows 20-30 years. Is it really that hard to remove to remove the original tile and put new tile on a bare cement wall?
