It would have been great if they could've had a roundtable discussion on one transit topic or multiple topics. They could've had a live show like The Call and rerun it. I just hated that it was 15 mins long. It should have been a half hour. Oh yea, they could have actually expanded on it greatly if they wanted to. Obviously when something happens like a train derailment or a new line being built it's going to be on the news, but stuff doesn't always happen in the MTA on a weekly basis. In fact, during the royal wedding, NY1 ran normal news which was great because every other station seemed to forget that we won in 1776 and that people had to go to work. For that, they will be the best station in the market. Sports on 1 is often the last thing I watch before turning the TV off for the night. As for it being moved to Channel 8 on Cablevision, they are rolling out a Remote DVR service on Channel 1. News 12 Brooklyn on the other hand, I commend them for taking a hyper-local approach, but you run out of stories pretty quickly with that format, then you get reports about cats stuck in trees. News 12 Long Island (you can watch them all online if you have Optimum Online or Time Warner) is better, since there's a wider area to cover. The only problem I have with it is ending up watching traffic when I want to know what it's like out and weather when I want to see how bad it is in Queens. It's mostly stuff that doesn't really deal with the trains but places to go using the train. Fine, but either way I don't miss the NY1 show at all for the reasons I listed earlier. I do agree about news12, but when I was on Long Island a few years ago, I couldn't stand it because it was LI centric and I wanted news about the city. Kid you don't understand also how Broadway/Entertainment is a huge hundred-million dollar industry as well. So you forget about that as well. Yes NY1 does show too much over and over. With that said, if something I am not a fan of, I turn the channel.
