Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver split over baby he fathered with member of household staff

"Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his glamorous wife, Maria Shriver, split up because he fathered a child with a member of their household staff.

 

The couple, together for 25 years, announced their separation earlier this month, but remained mum on what caused the split.

 

Schwarzenegger said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times late Monday they broke up after he admitted to Shriver that the child, born 10 years ago, was his.

 

"After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago," Schwarzenegger said in the statement.

 

"I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family," he said. "There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry."

 

The 63-year-old actor and former bodybuilder asked that the media "respect my wife and children through this extremely difficult time. While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family does not."

 

Shriver, a television journalist and the daughter of Sargent Shriver and Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of John F. Kennedy, had no comment, the paper reported.

 

However, TMZ reported that a source said Shriver is "completely distraught."

 

In a separate statement, the employee told the Times she had initially said her husband at the time was the child's father. The birth occurred years before Schwarzenegger became governor of California in 2004.

 

Another source told the Times that Schwarzenegger has supported the child financially from the beginning.

 

The newspaper reported that the child's mother had worked for the couple for at least 20 years before retiring in January. The Times did not reveal her name, job or of the gender of the child.

 

"I wanted to achieve my 20 years, then I asked to retire," the woman said, noting she "left on good terms."

 

Schwarzenegger had faced accusations in the past that he had a habit of groping women. Shriver, 55, stood by him during that period, but the "Conan" actor later admitted he "behaved badly sometimes."

 

The couple has four children together, two girls and two boys. They have been married since 1986.

 

Since his term as California's governor ended in early January, Schwarzenegger has traveled the globe, meeting with world leaders and trying to restart his movie career. He is expected to return to the big screen in the drama "Cry Macho."

 

The former action star may also resurrect the blockbuster "Terminator" movie franchise."

I like how the News Outlets and Tabloids blew this up like he's the only one in life to do something like this. It just shows how desperate we are for entertainment.

 

I still like Arnold. Always been my favorite actor.

 

I've been thinking the same thing. It's the 1st report on the news and on the covers of the newspapers and I don't think it's all that major. It's a damn shame what Arnold did to Maria and his family but it's not messing with California's economy because he's not the governor anymore and he wasn't the governor of California when all of that went down. The media is a mess, but I think we all know this by now.

But this story is still relatively new. Who knows what will come out later this week? It could become worse but hopefully, this will be the worst that it will be but that's asking for a lot lol.

The wife is a Kennedy, if she says no reports, then her word is law. That said, I could care less about this. Fans of Arnold [specifically the Terminator movies] won't care.

I actually spoke too soon. Yesterday, CNN dedicated half of their home page to this situation. And the photo of the lady is already out on CBS News (and if you're wondering, he could have done much better).

Looks like the media fallout of this love child has now cancelled the "Terminator's 'comeback for a movie career. In even in a place like "hollyweird' this scandal could forever destory him of getting paid millions in leading roles.

This is not the worst thing he could've done. Lots of politicians and actors cheat on their wives. This will blow over in a year.

 

He manged to **** a chick uglier than Maria.

I feel ya, but I wouldn't cheat on Maria with something that looks much worse.

 

Maria (never a beauty queen) was at best so/so before she had the kids and was about 15 years younger. Remember guys she now around 50 years old.

 

Being a Kennedy helped pay for the best makeup and ways to look better.
