for pics you can try http://www.nycsubway.org the R16 was retired in 1987 and have been scrapped after that. i know the R16 was at the transit museum. it might be still there i haven't been to the museum in years.

Well, what he said. There is one R16 at the Transit Museum. This car is car # 6387. The car hardly ever moves.

He's talking about a total rebuild of a car.

I've seen a picture of that once, and I'm not sure if it was even online, or it might have been in an ERA slideshow.

 

Funny, I can't even remember all the details. I think they gave it stainless steel sides (no fluting or anything) but with the blue paint strip, and it wasn't a round bonnet like the R10 rebuild, but remained flat. The side and door windows were changed. It's a very fuzzy memory, though.

oh sorry i read his post wrong. i think your right i don't think i ever saw the R16 rebuilt online either.
