Which manufacturer do you think makes the best MTA buses?!

Recommended Posts

This is a thread where you post your favorite industry that makes the best (MTA) buses. These are the 5 companies:

- Orion Bus Industries

- New Flyer Industries

- Motor Coach Industries

- Novabus Incorporated (Volvo Group North America)

- Prevost (Volvo Group North America)

I like the New Flyer buses because of it's design, ride, and its engine.

I'll choose NovaBus 'cuz they're known for making durable buses. Remember when #9373 had that incident with tat goya truck. That thing nearly knocked the hell out of that truck off it's feet. Plus Hearing around the forum that SI's LFS are taking what the harsh roads had to offer I'm sure that the LFS will do th same.

Orion (the 5.501 model) and Nova Bus (LFS model).

For MTA vehicles---it has to be Nova Bus. Their vehicles last long because they can, not because they have to. The non-6000s have had major problems with rot, and to a certain extent, so have the older C40LFs.

The key should be: Is the fleet legitimately able to last 15 years?

GMC, TMC & NovaBus. Reason? The RTS, the stronghold of the fleet!

MCI, obvious reasons of course.

NovaBus - RTS; The LFSA seems OK so far. I assume MTA would not be ordering more LFSA if there were serious problems.

New Flyer is a high-quality and innovative manufacturer. However, I don't think the HF artics have held up well. On the other hand, it's hard for any bus to hold up under NYC's tough operating conditions.

Orion, because the 5's are really nice and have held up throughout it's time (and then some), and also the 7's are doing okay too.
