Service Change- May 31/11: Bee-Line W78 Extend to new Ridge Hill development in Yonkers.

Recommended Posts

Bee-Line W78 will be extended from current terminus at Getty Square to Ridge Hill development in Yonkers.

Bee line continues to extend, while we truncate.... just great.

The 78, is that the stew leonards route? although I don't know what/where ridge hill is, that's good for them....

A small example of why I like Bee Line's system.

Not try to foam and go off topic lol:p but honestly this is the next set of service 'expansions' that the Bee Line should do. Sorry guys if some of these ideas are old and repeated from me before.

24/7 Hourly overnight service

#2 Tudor Woods-242nd via Broadway

#20 White Plains-Yonkers-Beford Park(no service to Cross County between 1-5am and Midnight-6am Sunday Nights/monday morning)

Can also be used as alternative for NYC-White Plains travel when the MNRR's Harlem line is not running overnights.

#7 Yonkers-Mt Vernon-New Rochelle

Later expanded evening service

1W service is expanded to run until 9pm Monday-Saturdays. Last Bus leaves White Plains at 9pm.

#60 runs until Midnight Monday-Saturdays. (Last Bus leaves Fordham around 1030pm and White Plains at Midnight)

Sunday evenings the #60 operates between New Rochelle and Fordham between 9-11pm(Last bus leaving New Rochelle at 11pm)

#42 last bus leaves 233rd Street for New Rochelle at Midnight Monday-Saturdays and 11pm Sundays from 241st-New Rochelle.

25 runs until 1230am Monday-Saturdays (last bus leaves 238th (2) station at 1230am)and 11pm Sundays.

#13 runs until Midnight Saturdays and Sundays until 11pm.

#16 runs until Midnight Monday-Friday (last bus leaves Corlandt Town Center at 1145pm)and until 10pm Sundays.

#17 Peekskill-White Plains express runs until 6pm Monday-Friday

Rush Hours.

#40 runs until 11pm Sunday Nights. Last Bus leaves White Plains at 11pm Sundays.

Service extensions

#16 All trips terminate at the Peekskill train station. Late evenings all trips runs between only between Jefferson Valley and Peekskill RR station.

#45 is extended to terminate at Bay Plaza and thus give riders in Coop access to New Rochelle.

#52 extended to serve Coop City and provide riders there a bus between Cross County and Coop City.

BXM4 is extended to serve the Empire City casino/Yonkers raceway and thus giving riders from Midtown Manhattan and those in Yonkers East Side a 7-day route.

Minor Service Cuts

1T is reduced to a rush hour only line. All other times (Monday-Saturday)the 1W serves both White Plains and Tarrytown RR station. Also replaces the 13b for Benedict Ave service.

13B-Elimanted-Replaced by 1w service.

#14-The 1015pm Northbound trip from White Plains to Corlandt Town Center is shortned and ends in Downtown Peekskill. As someone who has 'bufanned' this trip a couple of times in last 2-3 years (connecting with Hudson Line trains to Poughkeepsie at either Croton or Peekskill Stations)ridership is almost zero past Downtown Peekskill. Plus all the stores at Corlandt Town Center are closed.

Also extend the Saturday 945pm short trip to the Croton Harmon RR station for access connection for riders going to the Peekskill area.

If you don't know Westchester/Putnam QJtrainmaster I don't you should bother with a proposal.

There was a Bee Line rush hour only called the #84 bus that I think ran along I-684 basically between Brewester and White Plains. It was cancelled about 15 years ago due to low ridership.

Besides Putnam County already has a peak direction weekday commuter bus that runs along US Route 9 between Poughkeepsie and White Plains. It stops in both Garrison and Cold Spring.

Putnam is really car country. Only areas it needs more bus service is along US Route 6 between Jefferson Valley and Brewster. That it.

I agree w the 7 & the 20, but not the 2...

I do, however, think the BL-1 should run all day (but not to the yonkers city line), but b/w getty sq & the 242nd st (1)

Service extensions

#16 All trips terminate at the Peekskill train station. Late evenings all trips runs between only between Jefferson Valley and Peekskill RR station.

yeah, I hate that downhill walk b/w the downtown area & the LIRR station... but I don't know if every trip should be sent there... people gettin off over there by that police station & that library either live in the general area, or are waitin for the 14.....

#45 is extended to terminate at Bay Plaza and thus give riders in Coop access to New Rochelle.

That would be a truncation, not an extension...

I actually agree w/ QJT here.... keep buses ending at PBP....

#52 extended to serve Coop City and provide riders there a bus between Cross County and Coop City.

You're thinking of the 55.... and I agree 100% that the 55 should serve co-op...the stretch of the route b/w MNRR Mt Vernon East & Dyre (5) (not including the subway station itself) is rather weak; it's like 1/2 the route.... I think ridership would instantly boost if that served Co-op.... b/c the way I see it, Dyre av itself isn't dense enough to have a bus terminating there....

the 52 is that route that ends over there by that shopping plaza along boston rd; it's the secor housing route

BXM4 is extended to serve the Empire City casino/Yonkers raceway and thus giving riders from Midtown Manhattan and those in Yonkers East Side a 7-day route.

I'm not beating this dead horse....

I agree w/ the 1T being rush hours only....

However, I say the 1W should stay serving White plains only... that stint b/w MNRR Tarrytown 119 isn't that short.... Anyone that needs 1T service south of the RR station during off peak hrs, would have to take the RR itself...

13B-Elimanted-Replaced by 1w service.

totally disagree... the 1W doesn't need to be anymore longer than what it is... 13B service is justified & should be kept...

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing w/ the first part.... But I will say that, I wouldn't make that argument/claim/suggestion if it's true that Downtown Peekskill is dead around that hour, and that's when all the stores are closed @ cortlandt town center.... that would be a reason to cut the route back to croton harmon somewhere, or worse, get rid of that run entirely....

far as that last 14 NB run of the day on saturdays you're referring to.... I'd be more focused on sending the run before that one, that ends at the medical center... send THAT run all the way to Cortlandt town center, and make it the last run to the mall out there.... This way, you can keep that 9:45 bus ending in Ossining....

Thanks for the correction for the #52 and #55 with my idea to extend it to Coop City.

As far as the 1T during off peak, you can also take it to Broadway(Routes 9 & 119)and transfer to the 1w and 13. It's a joke there even a '1T' running all day weekdays.

And with the #14 and the last Northbound weekday trip(10ishpm)from White Plains-Peekskill, most of of the riders get off in Ossising. The rest are off by Main Street in Peekskill. Thus I think that last #14 weekday trip should end at the Police Station/Peekskill City Hall and then deadhead back to their depot. It's a waste to run it all the way to Corlandt Town Center that run.

Also that next to last northbound Saturday #14 trip which leaves at 845pm, I think it runs also to Ossising. Bro(B35)i think your idea to extend to Peekskill/Corlandt Town Center is a great idea.

And thus you right that last 945pm trip could still end in Ossising but extended to that town's train station for MNRR Hudson Line service further north.

On your other comments, I guess we can agree on at least most of them.

Including having the #1 run only between Getty Sq and 242nd St (1) station overnights.

Any more of this and I will unleash my ideas very soon be very careful here as I am suburban type. You missed a few points as to why northern folk dont use bus and having a car is only part of the reason here is a hint: If 77 were enhanced then it would be a waste HOWEVER if combined with this rte originating in putnam plaza then a busy new rochelle run then it will be justified as rte 6 service improves. The 77 has no business being closed door at all!!!

I agree that the 20 should be 24/7. Besides, the 20 is only 3 hours shy of being 24/7...the first bus out is at 5:40am with the last bus terminating at 2AM. Every 90 minutes from White Plains to Bedford Park. Every 60 from Fort Hill Rd or Yonkers and Central to Bedford. I've seen some 20's bound for Bedford dewell at the Yonkers and Central Aves intersections upwards of 15 minutes loading passengers. The demand is there.

The 7 could run every 90 between Getty Square and Mount Vernon. The 10:30PM out of Yonkers nearly empties after Mount Vernon East. The 7 is only in New Rochelle for about 10 minutes before it terminates, so the demand isn't present.
